The long-term effects of hexavalent chromium on anaerobic ammonium oxidation process: Performance inhibition, hexavalent chromium reduction and unexpected nitrite oxidation.

TLDR
The results showed Anammox performance was not affected at low Cr(VI) concentration, but was severely inhibited at 0.8 mg L-1, and microbial community showed no enrichment of Cr( VI) reducing bacteria and other nitrogen transformation-related bacteria.

Enhanced Biosorption of Sb(III) onto Living Rhodotorula mucilaginosa Strain DJHN070401: Optimization and Mechanism

TL;DR: The living cell not only improved the removal efficiency in the presence of metabolic inhibitors but also prevented intracellular Sb(III) being re-released into the environment.

Nitrogen removal performance and characteristics of gel beads immobilized anammox bacteria under different PVA:SA ratios.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the PVA:SA ratio in PVA/SA gel beads and found that increasing the concentration of PVA can reduce the apoptosis of microorganisms during the gel process.

Anaerobic biodegradation of soybean-process wastewater: Operation strategy and sludge bed characteristics of a high-performance Spiral Symmetric Stream Anaerobic Bioreactor.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pilot-scale SSSAB (P-SSSAB, effective volume 100L) was performed for the treatment of soybean-process wastewater over 216 days.

Insights into Anammox activity inhibition under trivalent and hexavalent chromium stresses

TL;DR: In this paper, the acute toxicity of two typical chromium ions (i.e., Cr(III) and Cr(VI)) on Anammox process as well as the kinetics under Cr(II) stress and the fate of Cr(V) were assessed.

Key Physiology of Anaerobic Ammonium Oxidation

TL;DR: The physiology of anaerobic ammonium oxidizing (anammox) aggregates grown in a sequencing batch reactor was investigated quantitatively and the anammox process was completely inhibited by nitrite concentrations higher than 0.1 g of nitrogen per liter.

Molecular mechanism of anaerobic ammonium oxidation

TL;DR: It is shown that N2H4 is produced from the anammox substrates ammonium and nitrite and that nitric oxide is the direct precursor of N2 H4, which presents a new biochemical reaction forging an N–N bond and fills a lacuna in understanding of the biochemical synthesis of the N2 in the atmosphere.

Respiration of metal (hydr)oxides by shewanella and geobacter: a key role for multihaem c-type cytochromes

TL;DR: Multihaem c‐Cyts play critical roles in S. oneidensis MR‐1‐ and G.’sulfurreducens‐mediated dissimilatory reduction of solid metal (hydr)oxides by facilitating ET across the bacterial cell envelope.
