Secretions of the interaural gland contain information about individuality and colony membership in the Bechstein's bat
Kamran Safi,Gerald Kerth +1 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that female Bechstein’s bats may use interaural gland secretions for individual and colony recognition but not to infer kinship directly.
Journal ArticleDOI
Signal trait sexual dimorphism and mutual sexual selection in Drosophila serrata.
TL;DR: The evolution of sexual dimorphism in D. serrata appears to have been achieved by sex‐limited expression of traits controlled by genes on the X chromosome and is likely to be in its final stages.
Journal ArticleDOI
The size-dependent site composition of FCC cobalt nanocrystals
TL;DR: In this paper, the size-dependent change in the surface site composition for Fischer-Tropsch (FT) nanocrystals was investigated, showing that the defect/step sites increased in concentration with increasing size, with the B5-A site and the B6 site reaching a stable value at about 4nm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using “omics” and integrated multi-omics approaches to guide probiotic selection to mitigate chytridiomycosis and other emerging infectious diseases

Loudon,Valerie J. McKenzie,Daniel Medina,Kevin P. C. Minbiole,Louise A. Rollins-Smith,Jenifer B. Walke,Sophie Weiss,Douglas C. Woodhams,Reid N. Harris +19 more
TL;DR: Using 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and methods such as indicator species analysis, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov Measure, and co-occurrence networks to identify bacteria that are associated with pathogen resistance in field surveys and experimental trials is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemistry of sands along the San Nicolás and San Carlos beaches, Gulf of California, Mexico: implications for provenance and tectonic setting
TL;DR: The compositional similarity among four independent groups (each beach area consists of 2 grain-size groups, i.e. medium and fine-grained sands) was tested statistically by the application of analysis of variance at the 99% confidence level to avoid misinterpretation as mentioned in this paper.

Problems of relative growth
TL;DR: This detailed study of the different rates of growth of parts of the body relative to the body as a whole represents Sir Julian Huxley's great contribution to analytical morphology, and it is still a basis for modern investigations in morphometrics and evolutionary biology.

Experiments with Mixtures: Designs, Models and the Analysis of Mixture Data
TL;DR: In this paper, the original Mixture Problem is described and models for exploring the Entire Simplex Factor Space are presented, including matrix algebra, least squares, and the analysis of variance.
New statistical methods for allometry with application to
TL;DR: In this paper, Mosimann et al. presented new statistical methods for the study of size and shape, and used these methods to study the morphology of red-winged blackbirds, Agelaius phoeniceus breeding in Florida.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of dispersion on a sphere
TL;DR: In this article, a series of approximate tests of significance is given for hypotheses about the precision constant K and the polar vector on a sphere, where 8' is the angle between the polar and observation vectors.
