Abstract
The theory of neutron scattering from lattice vibrations is redeveloped from the first principles. The expression for the scattering cross section contains factors depending on the anharmonicity explicitly, in addition to the conventional results and recent results based on the phonon Green function. Near the Curie temperature T c of displacive-type ferroelectrics a certain term in the factors depends anomalously on temperature because of softening of frequencies and becomes comparable to or even greater than the conventional term. A similar deviation near the magnetic critical point in discussed briefly. A general theory of phonons at arbitrary temperature is also developed using the correlation function method which includes the ordinary phonon theory as the limiting case of the absolute zero, and the dispersion of the Cochran mode is determined. A self-consistent method of determining the frequency of a photon is proposed.

Thermal Conductivity of SrTiO3, KTaO3 and BaTiO3 near the Curie Points

TL;DR: In this paper, the thermal conductivity λ near the Curie points of SrTiO 3, KTaO 3 and BaTiO3 was studied theoretically. And the following results were obtained: λ decreases gradually in the high temperature region (about T -0.5 ) and has a sharp decrease in the lower temperature side of the curie point.

Lattice-Dynamical Theory of Structural Phase Transition in Quartz

TL;DR: A lattice dynamical theory is developed for the phase transition in quartz, and the behaviours of various quantities in the vicinity of the transition temperature are discussed in this paper, where it is shown that the order parameter is proportional to the frequency of the soft mode regardless their temperature dependence and the discontinuous change of elastic constants are attributed to this proportionality.

Statistical-Mechanical Theory of Irreversible Processes : I. General Theory and Simple Applications to Magnetic and Conduction Problems

TL;DR: In this paper, a general type of fluctuation-dissipation theorem is discussed to show that the physical quantities such as complex susceptibility of magnetic or electric polarization and complex conductivity for electric conduction are rigorously expressed in terms of timefluctuation of dynamical variables associated with such irreversible processes.

A New Approach to Quantum-Statistical Mechanics

TL;DR: In this article, a new method of calculating the grand partition function of many-body system is developed, adopting extensively the techniques of calculus in quantum field theory, which is a trace of the density matrix expressed in terms of field operators, can be evaluated in a way almost parallel with the evaluation of the vacuum expectation value of the S-matrix.

TL;DR: In this article, the theory of the physical properties of an anharmonic crystal is discussed by using the thermodynamic Green's functions for the phonons, and detailed numerical calculations are presented of the thermal expansion, dielectric properties and shapes of some of the inelastically scattered neutron groups, for sodium iodide and potassium bromide.
