TLDR
Methomyl exhibited a low order of chronic oral toxicity even though it exhibited high acute oral toxicity, and when applied dermally to rabbits, aqueous suspensions of methamyl exhibited low acute toxicity.

Carbamate insecticide methomyl confers cytotoxicity through DNA damage induction

TL;DR: Methomyl is a strongly genotoxic agent that induces cell DNA damage and apoptosis in vitro at these sublethal concentrations.
Book ChapterDOI

Environmental fate and toxicology of methomyl.

TL;DR: Although methomyl has been widely used to treat field crops and has high water solubility, it has only infrequently been detected as a contaminant of water bodies in the USA, and is classified as a restricted-use insecticide because of its toxicity to multiple nontarget species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of chronic exposure of the male rat reproductive system to the insecticide methomyl.

TL;DR: It has been concluded that chronic exposure to methomyl insecticide has deleterious effects on rat testes, and application of such insecticide should be limited to a designed program with special care in handling to limit or minimize its hazards.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genotoxic effects of the carbamate insecticide methomyl. I. In vitro studies with pure compound and the technical formulation “Lannate 25”

TL;DR: Previous evaluations of methomyl as a nongenotoxic compound should be reconsidered because the technical formulation was more active than the pure compound, when compared at similar concentrations of active principle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of liver function: Principles and practice

TL;DR: There are hundreds of so-called liver function tests, and the number is steadily increasing, reflecting an unsatisfied need for quantitative assessment of liver function.

A simplified method of evaluating dose-effect experiments.

TL;DR: The method provides means for the rapid test of parallelism of two curves and easy computation of relative potency with its confidence limits and its accuracy is commensurate with the nature of dose-per cent effect data.

A simplified method of evaluating dose-effect experiments

TL;DR: In this article, a rapid graphic method for approximating the median effective dose and the slope of dose-per-cent effect curves is presented, and confidence limits of both of these parameters for 19/20 probability are given by the method.

Comparative dietary toxicities of pesticides to birds

TL;DR: The Tissue Bank enables researchers to obtain tissues from exotic fauna that otherwise would not have been available to them and conserves the rare and endangered wildlife that would have been sacrifiecd had these tissues not been provided.
