Treatment of electronic excitations within the adiabatic approximation of time dependent density functional theory
TLDR
In this paper, the three-parameter Lee-Yang-Parr (B3LYP) functional was used to compute low-lying electronic excitations of N2, ethylene, formaldehyde, pyridine and porphin.About:

The M06 suite of density functionals for main group thermochemistry, thermochemical kinetics, noncovalent interactions, excited states, and transition elements: two new functionals and systematic testing of four M06-class functionals and 12 other functionals
Yan Zhao,Donald G. Truhlar +1 more
TL;DR: The M06-2X meta-exchange correlation function is proposed in this paper, which is parametrized including both transition metals and nonmetals, and is a high-non-locality functional with double the amount of nonlocal exchange.

Toward reliable density functional methods without adjustable parameters: The PBE0 model
Carlo Adamo,Vincenzo Barone +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of the performances of a parameter free density functional model (PBE0) obtained combining the so-called PBE generalized gradient functional with a predefined amount of exact exchange is presented.

Quantum mechanical continuum solvation models.
TL;DR: This paper presents a meta-modelling procedure called "Continuum Methods within MD and MC Simulations 3072", which automates the very labor-intensive and therefore time-heavy and expensive process of integrating discrete and continuous components into a discrete-time model.

A new hybrid exchange–correlation functional using the Coulomb-attenuating method (CAM-B3LYP)
TL;DR: In this article, a new hybrid exchange-correlation functional named CAM-B3LYP is proposed, which combines the hybrid qualities of B3LYP and the long-range correction presented by Tawada et al.

TL;DR: The “Activation‐strain TS interaction” (ATS) model of chemical reactivity is reviewed as a conceptual framework for understanding how activation barriers of various types of reaction mechanisms arise and how they may be controlled, for example, in organic chemistry or homogeneous catalysis.

Density‐functional thermochemistry. III. The role of exact exchange
TL;DR: In this article, a semi-empirical exchange correlation functional with local spin density, gradient, and exact exchange terms was proposed. But this functional performed significantly better than previous functionals with gradient corrections only, and fits experimental atomization energies with an impressively small average absolute deviation of 2.4 kcal/mol.

Development of the Colle-Salvetti correlation-energy formula into a functional of the electron density
TL;DR: Numerical calculations on a number of atoms, positive ions, and molecules, of both open- and closed-shell type, show that density-functional formulas for the correlation energy and correlation potential give correlation energies within a few percent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Density-functional exchange-energy approximation with correct asymptotic behavior.
TL;DR: This work reports a gradient-corrected exchange-energy functional, containing only one parameter, that fits the exact Hartree-Fock exchange energies of a wide variety of atomic systems with remarkable accuracy, surpassing the performance of previous functionals containing two parameters or more.

Density-functional approximation for the correlation energy of the inhomogeneous electron gas
TL;DR: Numerical results for atoms, positive ions, and surfaces are close to the exact correlation energies, with major improvements over the original LM approximation for the ions and surfaces.
