We argue that the newly discovered superconductivity in a nearly magnetic, Fe-based layered compound is unconventional and mediated by antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations, though different from the usual superexchange and specific to this compound. This resulting state is an example of extended s-wave pairing with a sign reversal of the order parameter between different Fermi surface sheets. The main role of doping in this scenario is to lower the density of states and suppress the pair-breaking ferromagnetic fluctuations.read more

High-temperature superconductivity: From macro- to nanoscale structures
TL;DR: In this paper, the main experimental results and theoretical models describing the physical mechanisms of superconductivity appearance at phenomenological and microscopic levels, including change in the energy spectrum of atoms in these materials with the advent of the superconducting gap at temperatures below the critical transition, as well as the above-critical temperature "pseudo-gap" have been analyzed.

Magnetic dynamics in iron-based superconductors probed by neutron spectroscopy
TL;DR: Inelastic neutron scattering (INS) experiments on several iron-based superconductors were conducted in this article to investigate the link between magnetic dynamics and superconductivity, and the results suggest that magnetic fluctuations are not as influential to the electronic properties of iron-phosphide systems as they are in other IR-based compounds.

TL;DR: In this paper, the orbital symmetries of electron-doped iron-arsenide superconductors have been measured with x-ray absorption spectroscopy, revealing signatures of Fe d electron itinerancy, weak electronic correlations, and a high degree of Fe-As hybridization related to the bonding topology.
