TLDR
There appears to have been a slight increase in the national incidence of ureteral tumors in the last 23 years and a slight improvement in the overall disease specific survival of patients with upper tract neoplasms.About:

Vitaly Margulis,Shahrokh F. Shariat,Surena F. Matin,Ashish M. Kamat,Richard Zigeuner,Eiji Kikuchi,Yair Lotan,Alon Z. Weizer,Jay D. Raman,Christopher G. Wood +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a large series of patients treated with radical nephroureterectomy for urothelial carcinoma were studied, and variables associated with poor prognosis were identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Morgan Rouprêt,Marko Babjuk,Eva Compérat,Richard Zigeuner,Richard Sylvester,Max Bürger,Nigel C. Cowan,Andreas Böhle,Bas W.G. van Rhijn,Eero Kaasinen,Joan Palou,Shahrokh F. Shariat +11 more
TL;DR: The European Association of Urology (EAU) guideline group for upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) has prepared updated guidelines to aid clinicians in assessing the current evidence-based management of UTUC and to incorporate present recommendations into daily clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increasing incidence of all stages of kidney cancer in the last 2 decades in the United States: an analysis of surveillance, epidemiology and end results program data.
TL;DR: There was no significant difference in stage at presentation of renal cancer diagnosed in 1973 to 1985 compared with that diagnosed in 1986 to 1998, indicating that a proportion of innocuous renal cancer cases may be detected by increased abdominal imaging and that other factors may also be contributing to the increasing incidence.
Journal ArticleDOI
European guidelines for the diagnosis and management of upper urinary tract urothelial cell carcinomas: 2011 update.
Morgan Rouprêt,Richard Zigeuner,Joan Palou,Andreas Boehle,E. Kaasinen,Richard Sylvester,Marko Babjuk,Willem Oosterlinck +7 more
TL;DR: New guidelines for urothelial cell carcinoma of the upper urinary tract have been prepared to aid clinicians in assessing the current evidence-based management of UUT-UCC and to incorporate present recommendations into daily clinical practice.

Nonparametric Estimation from Incomplete Observations
Edward L. Kaplan,Paul Meier +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the product-limit (PL) estimator was proposed to estimate the proportion of items in the population whose lifetimes would exceed t (in the absence of such losses), without making any assumption about the form of the function P(t).

Prognostic factors, recurrence, and survival in transitional cell carcinoma of the upper urinary tract: a 30-year experience in 252 patients
M. Craig Hall,Sean Womack,Arthur I. Sagalowsky,Thomas J. Carmody,Mark D Erickstad,Claus G. Roehrborn +5 more
TL;DR: Primary tumor stage and surgical procedure performed (radical versus parenchymal sparing) are important predictors of disease recurrence and survival in patients treated for upper tract transitional cell carcinoma with extended follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Upper-tract transitional cell carcinoma.
TL;DR: Success with small, solitary, low-grade tumors allows the application of this technique to patients with a normal contralateral kidney on an elective basis, and adjuvant BCG or mitomycin C therapy appears to be safe, but confirmation of any benefits awaits the results of larger trials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumors of the upper urinary tract: 10 years of experience.
TL;DR: Of the patients 90% with cancer-related deaths had high grade tumors and of the 15 patients with positive lymph nodes 87% died of metastasis compared to 8% of the 50 patients with negative lymph nodes.
