TL;DR: The Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) Consortium has refined its recommendations about the clinical and pathologic diagnosis of DLB, updating the previous report, which has been in widespread use for the last decade.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of clinical features in possible DLB depending on FP-CIT SPECT result
Zuzana Walker,Emilio Moreno,Alan Thomas,Fraser Inglis,Naji Tabet,Tim Stevens,Tim Whitfield,Dag Aarsland,Michael Rainer,Alessandro Padovani +9 more
TL;DR: There was no difference in the evolution of DLB clinical features over 6 months between cases with normal and abnormal imaging, and only parkinsonism and dopamine transporter imaging helped to differentiate DLB from non-DLB dementia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reduction of RPT6/S8 (a Proteasome Component) and Proteasome Activity in the Cortex is Associated with Cognitive Impairment in Lewy Body Dementia.
Amani Alghamdi,Amani Alghamdi,Julie Vallortigara,David R. Howlett,Martin Broadstock,Tibor Hortobágyi,Clive Ballard,Clive Ballard,Alan Thomas,John T. O'Brien,Dag Aarsland,Dag Aarsland,Johannes Attems,Paul T. Francis,David Whitfield +14 more
TL;DR: Findings highlight the involvement of the UPS in Lewy body dementia and indicate that targeting the UPS may have the potential to slow down or reduce the progression of cognitive impairment in DLB and PDD.
Dynamin1 concentration in the prefrontal cortex is associated with cognitive impairment in Lewy body dementia (v1; ref status:
Julie Vallortigara,Sindhoo Rangarajan,David Whitfield,Amani Alghamdi,David R. Howlett,Tibor Hortobágyi,Mary Ann Johnson,Johannes Attems,Clive Ballard,Alan Thomas,Dag Aarsland,Paul T. Francis +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the expression level of Dynamin1 and phospho-CaMKII, key proteins of endocytosis and synaptic plasticity respectively, as potential markers of molecular processes specifically deregulated with dementia, after Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Patent
GABA biomarkers for depression
TL;DR: Differential expression of nucleic acids in the brains of subjects suffering from late-onset depression has been demonstrated as mentioned in this paper, which provides methods useful in the determination of late-onset depression.
