Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacological Characterization of Indacaterol, a Novel Once Daily Inhaled β2 Adrenoceptor Agonist, on Small Airways in Human and Rat Precision-Cut Lung Slices
TL;DR: The results show that the human lung slice system seems to be a good model to study the clinical properties of inhaled long-acting β2 adrenoceptor agonists and that caution is needed extrapolating from rat model to humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asbestosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: comparison of thin-section CT features.
Susan J. Copley,Athol U. Wells,Pathanamathan Sivakumaran,Michael B. Rubens,Y. C. Gary Lee,Sujal R. Desai,Sharyn MacDonald,Richard I. Thompson,Thomas V. Colby,Andrew G. Nicholson,Roland M. du Bois,A. William Musk,David M. Hansell +12 more
TL;DR: The thin-section CT pattern of asbestosis closely resembles that of biopsy-proved UIP and differs markedly from that of biospecific interstitial pneumonia, which is similar to that in the UIP cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Sailesh Kotecha,Angelo Barbato,Andrew Bush,F. Claus,Mark Davenport,C. Delacourt,Jan Deprest,Ernst Eber,Björn Frenckner,Anne Greenough,Andrew G. Nicholson,Juan L. Antón-Pacheco,Fabio Midulla +12 more
TL;DR: Experts are convened to evaluate the current literature and make recommendations on both the antenatal and post-natal management of congenital diaphragmatic hernia and multidisciplinary follow-up is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fibrotic idiopathic interstitial pneumonias: HRCT findings that predict mortality
Anthony Edey,Anand Devaraj,Robert P. Barker,Andrew G. Nicholson,Athol U. Wells,David M. Hansell +5 more
TL;DR: In fibrotic IIPs it is shown that increasingly severe traction bronchiectasis is indicative of higher mortality irrespective of the HRCT pattern and extent of disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of surgery in the treatment of limited disease small cell lung cancer: time to reevaluate.
TL;DR: In this paper, a retrospective review was undertaken of patients who underwent surgery between 1980 and 2006, and the authors sought to determine the survival after complete resection of small-cell lung cancer and the prognostic impact of clinical and pathologic stage.
