Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic lung diseases are associated with gene expression programs favoring SARS-CoV-2 entry and severity.
Linh T. Bui,Nichelle I. Winters,Mei-I Chung,Chitra Joseph,Austin J. Gutierrez,Arun C. Habermann,Taylor Adams,Jonas C. Schupp,Sergio Poli,Lance M. Peter,Chase J. Taylor,Jessica B. Blackburn,Bradley W. Richmond,Bradley W. Richmond,Andrew G. Nicholson,Doris Rassl,William A Wallace,Ivan O. Rosas,R. Gisli Jenkins,Naftali Kaminski,Jonathan A. Kropski,Jonathan A. Kropski,Jonathan A. Kropski,Nicholas E. Banovich +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the transcriptomes of 611,398 single cells isolated from healthy and chronic lung cells to identify molecular characteristics of lung cells that may account for worse COVID-19 outcomes in patients with chronic lung diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of Circulating Tumour Cells and Survival of Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Dimple Chudasama,James Barr,Julie Beeson,Emma Beddow,Niall McGonigle,Alexandra Rice,Andrew G. Nicholson,Vladimir Anikin +7 more
TL;DR: The results of this study suggest that the presence of CTCs analyzed by ScreenCell did not necessarily lead to a poorer prognosis in patients with lung cancer after curative surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Test performance of PET-CT for mediastinal lymph node staging of pulmonary carcinoid tumours
Holly Pattenden,Maria Leung,Emma Beddow,Michael Dusmet,Andrew G. Nicholson,Michael Shackcloth,Saifullah Mohamed,Adnan Darr,Babu Naidu,Swetha Iyer,Adrian Marchbank,Amy Greenwood,Doug West,Felice Granato,Alan Kirk,Priyadharshanan Ariyaratnam,Mahmoud Loubani,Eric Lim +17 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that PET-CT has a poor sensitivity but good specificity to detect the presence of mediastinal lymph node metastases in pulmonary carcinoid tumours, and if the absence of mediastsinal lymph nodes disease is a prerequisite for directing management, tissue sampling should be undertaken.
Journal ArticleDOI
The value of 'mesothelium-associated' antibodies in distinguishing between metastatic renal cell carcinomas and mesotheliomas.
TL;DR: Calretinin, CK5/6 and BerEP 4 appear the most useful antibodies in helping to distinguish between renal cell carcinomas and mesotheliomas, although BerEP4 was not particularly sensitive for renal cell cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pulmonary function vascular index predicts prognosis in idiopathic interstitial pneumonia.
Tamera J. Corte,Stephen J. Wort,Stephen J. Wort,Peter S. Macdonald,Anthony Edey,David M. Hansell,David M. Hansell,Elisabetta A. Renzoni,Elisabetta A. Renzoni,Toby M. Maher,Toby M. Maher,Andrew G. Nicholson,Andrew G. Nicholson,Steven Bandula,Paul Bresser,Athol U. Wells,Athol U. Wells +16 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesize that baseline KCO (diffusing capacity of carbon monoxide/alveolar volume) and 6‐month decline in KCO reflect PH, thus predicting mortality in IIP.
