Journal ArticleDOI

Dithiothreitol reactivates desacetoxycephalosporin C synthetase after inactivation

TL;DR: Dithiothreitol (DTT) has been found to stimulate the desacetoxycephalosporin C synthetase (expandase) activity of a frozen crude extract of Streptomyces clavuligerus, even in the presence of an optimum concentration of ascorbate.
Book ChapterDOI

Ethanol, Biomass, and Clostridia

TL;DR: The cellulase system in Clostridia thermocellum comprises multiple enzyme complexes, which are used by Thermoanaerobacterium saccharolyticum for production of ethanol, lactic acid, and acetic acid as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon and nitrogen source nutrition of fumagillin biosynthesis by Aspergillus fumigatus.

TL;DR: Volumetric production of fumagillin was increased by 15-fold over that in the starting medium as a result of these findings, and the dosage-response study of the best nitrogen source revealed that 9 g L−1 was optimal.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cloning and expression of a Clostridium thermocellum DNA fragment that encodes a protein related to cellulosome component SL.

TL;DR: Antibodies raised against the SL subunit of the Clostridium thermocellum cellulosome were used to screen a library of chromosomal DNA fragments constructed in the vector λgt11 and no similarity with other previously cloned DNA fragments has been found.
