Universal multifractal analysis as a tool to characterize multiscale intermittent patterns : example of phytoplankton distribution in turbulent coastal waters

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the conceptual bases of universal multifractals and more precisely a stochastic multifractal framework which among different advantages lead in a rather straightforward manner to universal multifractals.
Journal ArticleDOI

OZCAR: The French Network of Critical Zone Observatories

Jérôme Gaillardet, +148 more
- 29 Nov 2018 -
TL;DR: The OZCAR-RI project as discussed by the authors is a network of instrumented sites, bringing together 21 pre-existing research observatories monitoring different compartments of the zone situated between “the rock and the sky,” the Earth's skin or critical zone (CZ), over the long term.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multifractal analysis of phytoplankton biomass and temperature in the ocean

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed temperature and phytoplankton biomass ditributions to their turbulent environments and found that fluorescence was nearly dynamically passive (i.e. similar to temperature) on smaller scales but biologically active at larger scales.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between feeding and vertical distribution of bivalve larvae in stratified and mixed waters

TL;DR: Turbence seemed to be associated with increased gut content in bivalve veligers in vertically stratified and well-mixed waters of the Baie des Chaleurs, Quebec, Canada and was apparently associated with an increase in feeding activity.
