Seroprevalence of Autoantibodies against Brain Antigens in Health and Disease
Liane Dahm,Christoph Ott,Johann Steiner,Beata Stepniak,Bianca Teegen,Sandra Saschenbrecker,Christian Hammer,Kathrin Borowski,Martin Begemann,Sandra Lemke,Kristin Rentzsch,Christian Probst,Henrik Martens,Jürgen Wienands,Gianfranco Spalletta,Karin Weissenborn,Winfried Stöcker,Hannelore Ehrenreich +17 more
TL;DR: This finding challenges an unambiguous causal relationship of serum AB with brain disease and systematically screened serum samples of 4,236 individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clonally expanded B cells in multiple sclerosis bind EBV EBNA1 and GlialCAM
Tobias V. Lanz,R. Camille Brewer,Peggy P. Ho,Jae Seung Moon,Kevin Jude,Daniel Fernandez,Ricardo A. Fernandes,Alejandro M. Gomez,Gabriel-Stefan Nadj,Christopher M. Bartley,Ryan D. Schubert,Isobel A. Hawes,Sara E. Vazquez,Manasi Iyer,J. Bradley Zuchero,Bianca Teegen,Jeffrey Dunn,Christopher Lock,Lucas Kipp,Victoria C. Cotham,Beatrix Ueberheide,Blake T. Aftab,Mark E. Anderson,Joseph L. DeRisi,Michael R. Wilson,Rachael Bashford-Rogers,Michael Platten,K. Christopher Garcia,Lawrence Steinman,William H. Robinson +29 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors demonstrate high-affinity molecular mimicry between the EBV transcription factor EBV nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA1) and the central nervous system protein glial cell adhesion molecule (GlialCAM) and provide structural and in vivo functional evidence for its relevance.

Herpes simplex virus–1 encephalitis can trigger anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis: Case report
Frank Leypoldt,Maarten J. Titulaer,Esther Aguilar,Janine Walther,Marlene Bönstrup,Stefanie Havemeister,Bianca Teegen,Marc Lütgehetmann,Michael Rosenkranz,Tim Magnus,Josep Dalmau +10 more
TL;DR: An adult with this disorder is reported, it is demonstrated that synthesis of NMDAR antibodies began after HSVE, and relapsing symptoms were due to steroid-responsive anti-NMDAR encephalitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
High prevalence of NMDA receptor IgA/IgM antibodies in different dementia types.
Sarah Doss,Klaus-Peter Wandinger,Bradley T. Hyman,Jessica A. Panzer,Matthis Synofzik,Bradford C. Dickerson,Brit Mollenhauer,Clemens R. Scherzer,Adrian J. Lynch,Ulrich Dirnagl,Ulrich Dirnagl,Matthias Endres,Bianca Teegen,Christian Probst,Lars Komorowski,Winfried Stöcker,Josep Dalmau,Harald Prüss,Harald Prüss +42 more
TL;DR: To retrospectively determine the frequency of N‐Methyl‐D‐Aspartate (NMDA‐aspartate) receptor (NMDAR) autoantibodies in patients with different forms of dementia, a retrospective study is conducted.
