Supportive Care: Time to Change Our Prognostic Tools and Their Use in CKD
Cécile Couchoud,Brenda R. Hemmelgarn,Peter Kotanko,Michael J. Germain,Olivier Moranne,Sara N. Davison +5 more
TL;DR: The use as well as the limits and deficiencies of currently available prognostic tools are discussed, new predictors that could be integrated in future scores and the role of patients' priorities in development of new scores are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obesity and access to kidney transplantation in patients starting dialysis: A prospective cohort study.
Mathilde Lassalle,Léopold Fezeu,Cécile Couchoud,Thierry Hannedouche,Ziad A. Massy,Sébastien Czernichow +5 more
TL;DR: It is shown that obese patients with ESRD face barriers to the receipt of a kidney transplant without valid reasons, and greater attention to this issue would improve the fairness of the organ allocation process and might improve outcomes for obese patients in this population.
Journal ArticleDOI
The essential of 2012 results from the French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network (REIN) ESRD registry.
Mathilde Lassalle,Carole Ayav,Luc Frimat,Christian Jacquelinet,Cécile Couchoud,au nom du registre Rein +5 more
TL;DR: Ten years after the start of the French ESRD registry, this report provides a comprehensive and nation-wide overview of dialysis and transplantation cares in France, including overseas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term Kidney Transplant Outcomes in Primary Glomerulonephritis: Analysis From the ERA-EDTA Registry.
Maria Pippias,Vianda S. Stel,Nuria Aresté-Fosalba,Cécile Couchoud,Gema Fernández-Fresnedo,Patrik Finne,James G Heaf,Andries J. Hoitsma,Johan De Meester,Runolfur Palsson,Pietro Ravani,Mårten Segelmark,Jamie P. Traynor,Anna Varberg Reisæter,Fergus Caskey,Kitty J. Jager +15 more
TL;DR: This large European study shows favorable long-term kidney allograft survival in all primary glomerulonephritides, although this remains lower than graft survival in ADPKD, and confirms that the reluctance to use living donors in some primary glomersul onephritis remains unfounded.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ten-years trends in renal replacement therapy for end-stage renal disease in mainland France: Lessons from the French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network (REIN) registry.
Cécile Vigneau,Anne Kolko,Bénédicte Stengel,Christian Jacquelinet,Paul Landais,Philippe Rieu,Sahar Bayat,Cécile Couchoud,Rein registry +8 more
TL;DR: Kidney transplantation and survival significantly improved despite the heavier patient burden, however, the rise in type 2 diabetes-related ESRD and the stable high rate of emergency dialysis start remain major issues.
