ACE2 localizes to the respiratory cilia and is not increased by ACE inhibitors or ARBs.
Ivan T. Lee,Tsuguhisa Nakayama,Chien-Ting Wu,Yury Goltsev,Sizun Jiang,Phillip A. Gall,Chun Kang Liao,Liang Chun Shih,Christian M. Schürch,David R. McIlwain,Pauline Chu,Nicole A. Borchard,David Zarabanda,Sachi S. Dholakia,Angela Yang,Dayoung Kim,Han Chen,Tomoharu Kanie,Chia-Der Lin,Ming Hsui Tsai,Katie M. Phillips,Raymond Kim,Jonathan B. Overdevest,Jonathan B. Matter,Chih Jaan Tai,Te-Huei Yeh,Peter H. Hwang,Garry P. Nolan,Jayakar V. Nayak,Peter K. Jackson +41 more
TL;DR: The discovery that the ACE2 receptor protein robustly localizes within the motile cilia of airway epithelial cells, which likely represents the initial or early subcellular site of SARS-CoV-2 viral entry during host respiratory transmission, is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proteomic identification of salivary transferrin as a biomarker for early detection of oral cancer.
Yu Jen Jou,Chia-Der Lin,Chih Ho Lai,Chao Hsien Chen,Jung-Yie Kao,Shih Yin Chen,Ming Hsui Tsai,Su Hua Huang,Cheng Wen Lin,Cheng Wen Lin +9 more
TL;DR: The area under the receiver-operating characteristics curves showed that salivary transferrin-based ELISA was highly specific, sensitive and accurate for the early detection of oral cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased programmed death-ligand-1 expression in human gastric epithelial cells in Helicobacter pylori infection.
Yi-Ying Wu,Chin-Sheng Lin,Ken Sheng Cheng,Chia-Der Lin,Y.-M. Wang,I.-T. Lin,Y.-H. Chou,Ping-Ning Hsu +7 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that a novel bidirectional interaction between human gastric epithelial cells and lymphocytes modulates PD‐L1 expression in human Gastric epithel cells, contributing to the unique immunological properties of the stomach.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross-linguistic comparison of frequency-following responses to voice pitch in American and Chinese neonates and adults.
Fuh-Cherng Jeng,Jiong Hu,Brenda Dickman,Karen Montgomery-Reagan,Meiling Tong,Guangqiang Wu,Chia-Der Lin +6 more
TL;DR: An early maturation of voice-pitch processing in neonates starting from 1 to 3 days after birth and a significant effect of linguistic experience on the neural processing of voice pitch at the brainstem level are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical experiences of removing foreign bodies in the airway and esophagus with a rigid endoscope: a series of 3217 cases from 1970 to 1996.
TL;DR: It is concluded that foreign bodies in the airway and esophagus can be removed safely under direct visualization through rigid endoscopy with relatively few complications.
