A Serious Adverse Event after Successful Gene Therapy for X-Linked Severe Combined Immunodeficiency
Salima Hacein-Bey-Abina,Christof von Kalle,Manfred Schmidt,Françoise Le Deist,NM Wulffraat,Elisabeth McIntyre,Isabelle Radford,Jean-Luc Villeval,Christopher Fraser,Marina Cavazzana-Calvo,Alain Fischer +10 more
TL;DR: The sustained correction of X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency disease by ex vivo, retrovirally mediated transfer of the γc gene into CD34+ cells in four of five patients with the disease has been reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Capsule endoscopy versus colonoscopy for the detection of polyps and cancer
André Van Gossum,Miguel Munoz-Navas,Miguel Muñoz Navas,Iñaqui Fernandez-Urien,Cristina Carretero,Michel Delvaux,Marie Georges Lapalus,Thierry Ponchon,Horst Neuhaus,Michael Philipper,Guido Costamagna,Maria Elena Riccioni,Cristiano Spada,Lucio Petruzziello,Christopher Fraser,Aymer Postgate,Aine Fitzpatrick,Friedrich Hagenmüller,Martin Keuchel,N. Schoofs,Jacques Devière +20 more
TL;DR: The use of capsule endoscopy of the Colon allows visualization of the colonic mucosa in most patients, but its sensitivity for detecting colonic lesions is low as compared with the use of optical colonoscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning, characterization, and functional studies of human and mouse glycoprotein VI: a platelet-specific collagen receptor from the immunoglobulin superfamily.
Martine Jandrot-Perrus,Martine Jandrot-Perrus,Martine Jandrot-Perrus,Samantha J. Busfield,Samantha J. Busfield,Samantha J. Busfield,Anne-Helène Lagrue,Anne-Helène Lagrue,Anne-Helène Lagrue,Ximing Xiong,Ximing Xiong,Ximing Xiong,Najet Debili,Najet Debili,Najet Debili,Troy Chickering,Troy Chickering,Troy Chickering,Jean-Pierre Le Couedic,Jean-Pierre Le Couedic,Jean-Pierre Le Couedic,Andrew D. Dussault,Christopher Fraser,Christopher Fraser,Christopher Fraser,William Vainchenker,William Vainchenker,William Vainchenker,Jean-Luc Villeval,Jean-Luc Villeval,Jean-Luc Villeval +35 more
TL;DR: The genes encoding human and mouse GPVI were identified and functional evidence demonstrating the identity of the recombinant protein with GPVI was shown, and it was demonstrated that the soluble protein blocks Cvx and collagen-induced platelet aggregation and that GPVI expression is restricted to megakaryocytes and platelets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vector integration is nonrandom and clustered and influences the fate of lymphopoiesis in SCID-X1 gene therapy
Annette Deichmann,Salima Hacein-Bey-Abina,Manfred Schmidt,Manfred Schmidt,Alexandrine Garrigue,Martijn H. Brugman,Jingqiong Hu,Hanno Glimm,Gabor Gyapay,Bernard Prum,Christopher Fraser,Nicolas Fischer,Kerstin Schwarzwaelder,Kerstin Schwarzwaelder,Maria Luise Siegler,Dick de Ridder,Dick de Ridder,Karin Pike-Overzet,Steven J. Howe,Adrian J. Thrasher,Gerard Wagemaker,Ulrich Abel,Frank J. T. Staal,Eric Delabesse,Jean-Luc Villeval,Bruce J. Aronow,Christophe Hue,Claudia Prinz,Manuela Wissler,Chuck Klanke,Jean Weissenbach,Ian E. Alexander,Alain Fischer,Christof von Kalle,Marina Cavazzana-Calvo +34 more
TL;DR: The results obtained from a large-scale mapping of retroviral integration sites isolated from cells of 9 patients with X-linked SCID (SCID-X1) treated with a retrovirus-based gene therapy protocol help to elucidate the relationship between vector insertion and long-term in vivo selection of transduced cells in human patients with SCID- X1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulation of LIGHT-HVEM costimulation prolongs cardiac allograft survival.
Qunrui Ye,Christopher Fraser,Wei Gao,Liqing Wang,Samantha J. Busfield,Chichung Wang,Yubin Qiu,Anthony J. Coyle,Jose-Carlos Gutierrez-Ramos,Wayne W. Hancock +9 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that T cell to T cell–mediated LIGHT/HVEM-dependent costimulation is a significant component of the host response leading to cardiac allograft rejection.
