Comprehensive suppression of single-molecule conductance using destructive σ-interference

TL;DR: The molecular design presented here provides a proof-of-concept for a quantum-interference-based approach to single-molecule insulators, engineered so that conduction is fully suppressed by σ quantum interference even for molecules less than a nanometre long, could prove useful in molecular-scale electronic circuitry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tuning Singlet Fission in π-Bridge-π Chromophores

TL;DR: Using transient absorption spectroscopy to investigate photophysics in pentacene dimers, it is found that homoconjugated dimer display desirable excited-state dynamics, with significantly reduced recombination rates as compared to conjugated dimers with similar singlet fission rates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multicolor Live-Cell Chemical Imaging by Isotopically Edited Alkyne Vibrational Palette

TL;DR: A three-color vibrational palette of alkyne tags using a 13C-based isotopic editing strategy opens up multicolor imaging of small biomolecules, enlightening a new dimension of chemical imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electron Delocalization in Perylene Diimide Helicenes

TL;DR: Two new helicenes derived from the double fusion of an acene with two perylene diimide (PDI) subunits exhibit very different structural and electronic properties, despite differing by only a single ring in the link between the PDI units.
