Journal ArticleDOI
A linear radiofrequency ion trap for accumulation, bunching, and emittance improvement of radioactive ion beams
Frank Herfurth,Jens Dilling,Alban Kellerbauer,Georg Bollen,S. Henry,Hans-Jürgen Kluge,Emily Lamour,David Lunney,R. B. Moore,C. Scheidenberger,Stefan Schwarz,G. Sikler,J. Szerypo +12 more
TL;DR: An ion beam cooler and buncher was developed for the manipulation of radioactive ion beams at ISOLDE/CERN as discussed by the authors, where the efficiency was found to exceed 10% in agreement with simulations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Szabo-Foster,H. A. Torii,B. Vallage,M. Valdes,D. P. van der Werf,Alexei Voronin,Jochen Walz,Sebastian Wolf,S. Wronka,Yasunori Yamazaki +59 more
TL;DR: The GBAR project at CERN as mentioned in this paper measured the free fall acceleration of ultracold neutral anti hydrogen atoms in the terrestrial gravitational field, which consists preparing anti hydrogen ions (one antiproton and two positrons) and sympathetically cooling them with Be (+) ions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ramsey method of separated oscillatory fields for high-precision penning trap mass spectrometry.
Sebastian George,S. Baruah,B. Blank,Klaus Blaum,M. Breitenfeldt,U. Hager,Frank Herfurth,Alexander Herlert,Alban Kellerbauer,Hans-Jürgen Kluge,Matthieu Kretzschmar,David Lunney,R. Savreux,Stefan Schwarz,Lutz Schweikhard,C. Yazidjian +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the Ramsey method applied to Penning trap mass measurements yields a statistical uncertainty similar to that obtained by the conventional technique but 10 times faster, which is a new powerful tool for high-precision mass measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thirolf,Joachim Ullrich,P. Van Duppen,Andrey Vasiliev,G. Vorobjev,C. Weber,Klaus Wendt,M. Winkler,Deyan T. Yordanov,F. Ziegler +104 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method for high-accuracy mass measurements of the shortest-lived isotopes and decay studies at the FAIR facility using an electron beam ion trap for charge breeding, ion traps for beam preparation, and a high-precision Penning trap system for mass measurements and decay analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct mass measurements on the superallowed emitter 74Rb and its daughter 74Kr: isospin-symmetry-breaking correction for standard-model tests.
Alban Kellerbauer,Georges Audi,Dietrich Beck,Klaus Blaum,Georg Bollen,B. A. Brown,P. Delahaye,C. Guénaut,Frank Herfurth,H.-J. Kluge,David Lunney,Stefan Schwarz,Lutz Schweikhard,C. Yazidjian +13 more
TL;DR: The decay energy of the superallowed beta decay 74Rb(beta+)74Kr was determined by direct Penning trap mass measurements on both the mother and the daughter nuclide using the time-of-flight resonance technique and was found to be Q=10 416.8(4.5) keV.
