Transformation of Leukocytes by Theileria parva and T. annulata

TL;DR: The presence of the parasite in the host-cell cytoplasm modulates the state of activation of a number of signal transduction pathways, including nuclear factor-kappa B, which appear to be essential for the survival of Theileria-transformed T cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hijacking of host cell IKK signalosomes by the transforming parasite Theileria

TL;DR: This work found that survival of Theileria-transformed leukocytes depends strictly on constitutive nuclear factor kappa B activity and found that this was mediated by recruitment of the multisubunit IκB kinase into large, activated foci on the parasite surface.
