Circulating microRNAs in sera correlate with soluble biomarkers of immune activation but do not predict mortality in ART treated individuals with HIV-1 infection : a case control study

Daniel D Murray, +1489 more
- 14 Oct 2015 -
TL;DR: No associations with mortality were found with any circulating miRNAs studied and these results cast doubt onto the effectiveness of circulating miRNA as early predictors of mortality or the major underlying diseases that contribute to mortality in participants treated for HIV-1 infection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liver disease as a major cause of death among HIV infected patients: role of hepatitis C and B viruses and alcohol

TL;DR: It is shown that liver disease is now a leading cause of death among HIV-HCV co-infected patients and is becoming an important cause ofdeath among HIV/AIDS co- Infected patients, with the risk of death from liver disease highest in patients co- infected by both HCV and HBV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mortality due to hepatitis C-related liver disease in HIV-infected patients in France (Mortavic 2001 study).

TL;DR: In the post-HAART era, ESLD due to HCV is a growing cause of mortality in HIV-infected patients, and a higher prevalence of alcohol consumption, are probably involved in this trend.
