Assessing the benefits and risks of translocations in changing environments : a genetic perspective
Andrew Weeks,Carla M. Sgrò,Andrew G. Young,Richard Frankham,Nicki Mitchell,Kim A. Miller,Margaret Byrne,David J. Coates,Mark D. B. Eldridge,Paul Sunnucks,Martin F. Breed,Elizabeth A. James,Ary A. Hoffmann +12 more
TL;DR: A classification of translocations based on specific genetic goals for both threatened species and ecological restoration is provided, separating targets based on ‘genetic rescue’ of current population fitness from those focused on maintaining adaptive potential.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The first observation run of the Advanced LIGO detectors started in September 2015 and ended in January 2016 as discussed by the authors, which achieved a strain sensitivity of better than 10^(−23)/√Hz around 100 Hz.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clonality and sexual reproductive failure in remnant populations of Santalum lanceolatum (Santalaceae)
Cindy L Warburton,Elizabeth A. James,Elizabeth A. James,Yvonne J Fripp,Stephen J. Trueman,Helen M. Wallace +5 more
TL;DR: Clonality, genetic isolation and sexual reproductive failure indicate that preservation of each population, and possibly the establishment of new ones, should be objectives of the conservation strategy for the S. lanceolatum remnants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic diversity and structure of the Australian flora
Linda M. Broadhurst,Martin F. Breed,Andrew J. Lowe,Jason G. Bragg,Renee A. Catullo,David J. Coates,Francisco Encinas-Viso,Nicholas J. C. Gellie,Elizabeth A. James,Siegfried L. Krauss,Siegfried L. Krauss,Brad M. Potts,Maurizio Rossetto,Mervyn Shepherd,Margaret Byrne +14 more
TL;DR: The authors' analysis of genetic diversity of Australian plants showed associations consistent with predictions based on population genetics theory, with strong effects of range size, abundance and growth form.
Journal ArticleDOI
Limitations to Reproductive Output and Genetic Rescue in Populations of the Rare Shrub Grevillea repens (Proteaceae)
TL;DR: The results highlight that management strategies involving interpopulation crosses can improve reproductive output in small, isolated populations of rare plants, but guidelines need to be developed on a population by population basis.
