Erlich,Aurélie Derré,Ludovic Villéger,Michel Farnier,Isabel Beucler,Eric Bruckert,Jean Chambaz,Bernard Chanu,Jean-Michel Lecerf,Gérald Luc,Philippe Moulin,Jean Weissenbach,Annick Prat,Michel Krempf,Claudine Junien,Nabil G. Seidah,Catherine Boileau +25 more
TL;DR: Two mutations in the gene PCSK9 (encoding proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9) that cause ADH are reported, a newly identified human subtilase that is highly expressed in the liver and contributes to cholesterol homeostasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Familial hypercholesterolaemia is underdiagnosed and undertreated in the general population: guidance for clinicians to prevent coronary heart disease: consensus statement of the European Atherosclerosis Society

TL;DR: There is an urgent worldwide need for diagnostic screening together with early and aggressive treatment of this extremely high-risk condition, familial hypercholesterolaemia.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Consistent evidence from numerous and multiple different types of clinical and genetic studies unequivocally establishes that LDL causes ASCVD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mild to moderate muscular symptoms with high-dosage statin therapy in hyperlipidemic patients--the PRIMO study.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that mild to moderate muscular symptoms with high-dosage statin therapy may be more common and exert a greater impact on everyday lives than previously thought.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated levels of interleukin 6 are reduced in serum and subcutaneous adipose tissue of obese women after weight loss.
Jean-Philippe Bastard,Claude Jardel,Eric Bruckert,Patricia Blondy,Jacqueline Capeau,Martine Laville,Hubert Vidal,Bernard Hainque +7 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that, as for leptin, circulating IL-6 concentrations reflect, at least in part, adipose tissue production reduced after weight loss, and could play a role in the improved sensitivity to insulin observed in these patients.
