Stephanie A. Smith-Warner,John Ritz,David J. Hunter,Demetrius Albanes,W. Lawrence Beeson,Piet A. van den Brandt,Graham A. Colditz,Aaron R. Folsom,Gary E. Fraser,Jo L. Freudenheim,Edward Giovannucci,R Alexandra Goldbohm,Saxon Graham,Lawrence H. Kushi,Anthony B. Miller,Thomas E. Rohan,Frank E. Speizer,Jarmo Virtamo,Walter C. Willett +18 more
TL;DR: Data do not support an important relation between fat or cholesterol intakes and lung cancer risk, and the means to prevent this important disease remains avoidance of smoking.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective cohort study of postmenopausal hormone use and risk of breast cancer in us women
Julie E. Buring,Charles H. Hennekens,Robert J. Lipnick,Walter C. Willett,Meir J. Stampfer,Bernard Rosner,Richard Peto,Frank E. Speizer +7 more
TL;DR: Findings are moderately reassuring, but since there are as yet few women in this cohort with long-term durations of use and, particularly, with long intervals since first use, continued follow-up of this and other cohorts will be required before firm conclusions can be drawn, especially among specific subgroups.
The Impact of Diabetes Mellitus on Mortality From All Causes and Coronary Heart Disease in Women
Frank B. Hu,Meir J. Stampfer,Caren G. Solomon,Simin Liu,Walter C. Willett,Frank E. Speizer,David M. Nathan,JoAnn E. Manson +7 more
TL;DR: The combination of prior CHD and a long duration of clinical diabetes (ie, .15 years) was associated with a 30fold (95% CI, 20.7-43.5) increased risk of fatal CHD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimation of the diesel exhaust exposures of railroad workers: I. Current exposures
TL;DR: Significant interrailroad variations were observed in some job groups indicating that the different facilities, equipment, and work practices found among the railroads can affect a worker's exposure to diesel exhaust.
