Journal ArticleDOI
Endovascular stent-graft placement in aortic dissection: a meta-analysis.
Holger Eggebrecht,Christoph A. Nienaber,Markus Neuhäuser,Dietrich Baumgart,Stephan Kische,Axel Schmermund,Ulf Herold,Tim C. Rehders,Heinz Jakob,Raimund Erbel +9 more
TL;DR: Endovascular stent-graft placement in type B-AD is technically feasible with success rates of >95% in selected cohort, and both, acute and mid-term mortality of this novel treatment strategy appear to favourably compare with surgical treatment but further studies are necessary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Silent and Apparent Cerebral Ischemia After Percutaneous Transfemoral Aortic Valve Implantation A Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study
Philipp Kahlert,Stephan Knipp,Marc Schlamann,Matthias Thielmann,Fadi Al-Rashid,Marcel Weber,Uwe Johansson,Daniel Wendt,Heinz Jakob,Michael Forsting,Stefan Sack,Raimund Erbel,Holger Eggebrecht +12 more
TL;DR: Clinically silent new foci of restricted diffusion on cerebral magnetic resonance imaging were detected in almost all patients undergoing TAVI, although typically multiple, these foci were not associated with apparent neurological events or measurable deterioration of neurocognitive function during 3-month follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardioprotective and prognostic effects of remote ischaemic preconditioning in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery: a single-centre randomised, double-blind, controlled trial
Matthias Thielmann,Eva Kottenberg,Petra Kleinbongard,Daniel Wendt,Nilgün Gedik,Susanne Pasa,Vivien Price,Konstantinos Tsagakis,Markus Neuhäuser,Jürgen Peters,Heinz Jakob,Gerd Heusch +11 more
TL;DR: Remote ischaemic preconditioning provided perioperative myocardial protection and improved the prognosis of patients undergoing elective CABG surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
First-line Therapy with Coagulation Factor Concentrates Combined with Point-of-Care Coagulation Testing Is Associated with Decreased Allogeneic Blood Transfusion in Cardiovascular Surgery A Retrospective, Single-center Cohort Study
Klaus Görlinger,Daniel Dirkmann,Alexander A. Hanke,Markus Kamler,Eva Kottenberg,Matthias Thielmann,Heinz Jakob,Jürgen Peters +7 more
TL;DR: First-line administration of coagulation factor concentrates combined with point-of-care testing was associated with decreased incidence of blood transfusion and thrombotic/thromboembolic events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR) for the treatment of aortic diseases: a position statement from the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), in collaboration with the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI)
Martin Grabenwöger,Fernando Alfonso,Jean E. Bachet,Robert S. Bonser,Martin Czerny,Holger Eggebrecht,Arturo Evangelista,Rossella Fattori,Heinz Jakob,Lars Lönn,Christoph A. Nienaber,Guido Rocchi,Hervé Rousseau,Matt M. Thompson,Ernst Weigang,Raimund Erbel +15 more
TL;DR: A multidisciplinary position statement that supports and advises all clinicians utilizing this technological advance and acts as a position statement for both societies that reflects current understanding of thoracic aortic endovascular therapy.
