Putative association between anti-borrelia IgG and autoimmune thyroid disease?
TL;DR: There is no association between the exposure to Borrelia as defined by anti-Borrelia IgG and the risk of AITD, and it seems unlikely that Bor Relia species represent a relevant causal factor for AITd.
Journal ArticleDOI
TSH-Referenzbereich bei süddeutschen Erwachsenen: Ergebnisse aus der bevölkerungsbasierten KORA F4-Studie
Katrin Burkhardt,Till Ittermann,Margit Heier,Inge Kirchberger,Henry Völzke,Henri Wallaschofski,Harald Below,Matthias Nauck,Christine Meisinger +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
A Thyroid Hormone-Independent Molecular Fingerprint of 3,5-Diiodothyronine Suggests a Strong Relationship with Coffee Metabolism in Humans
Maik Pietzner,Josef Köhrle,Ina Lehmphul,Kathrin Budde,Gabi Kastenmüller,Georg Brabant,Henry Völzke,Anna Artati,Jerzy Adamski,Uwe Völker,Matthias Nauck,Nele Friedrich,Georg Homuth +12 more
TL;DR: The molecular fingerprint of 3,5-T2 demonstrates a clear and strong positive association of the serum levels of this TH metabolite with plasma levels of compounds indicating coffee consumption, therefore pointing to the liver as an organ, the metabolism of which is strongly affected by coffee.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interactions of Anemia, FGF-23, and Bone in Healthy Adults-Results From the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP).
Anke Hannemann,Matthias Nauck,Henry Völzke,Heike Weidner,Uwe Platzbecker,Lorenz C. Hofbauer,Martina Rauner,Ulrike Baschant +7 more
TL;DR: The data corroborates a close link between FGF-23 and anemia, which is related to poor bone quality in the elderly, and further studies are needed clarifying the role of F GF-23 on bone and red blood cell production.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comment on: Cryer. Severe Hypoglycemia Predicts Mortality in Diabetes. Diabetes Care 2012;35:1814–1816
Wolfgang Kerner,Henry Völzke +1 more
TL;DR: In a commentary by Cryer, it is sobering to think that as many as 1 in 25—or even 1 in 10—patients with type 1 diabetes will die of iatrogenic hypoglycemia.
