Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma aldosterone levels and aldosterone-to-renin ratios are associated with endothelial dysfunction in young to middle-aged subjects.
Anke Hannemann,Henri Wallaschofski,Jan Lüdemann,Henry Völzke,Marcello Ricardo Paulista Markus,Rainer Rettig,U. Lendeckel,Martin Reincke,Stephan B. Felix,Klaus Empen,Matthias Nauck,Marcus Dörr +11 more
TL;DR: High and high-normal PAC or ARR contribute to an impaired FMD and subsequently the progression of subclinical atherosclerosis in young to middle-aged subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
New insights in the link between malocclusion and periodontal disease
Olaf Bernhardt,Karl-Friedrich Krey,Amro Daboul,Henry Völzke,Stefan Kindler,Thomas Kocher,Christian Schwahn +6 more
TL;DR: Malocclusions or morphologic parameters were associated with periodontal disease in subjects recruited from the population-based cross-sectional study "Study of Health in Pomerania".
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-Wide Meta-Analyses of Plasma Renin Activity and Concentration Reveal Association With the Kininogen 1 and Prekallikrein Genes
Wolfgang Lieb,Ming-Huei Chen,Alexander Teumer,Rudolf A. de Boer,Honghuang Lin,Ervin R. Fox,Solomon K. Musani,James G. Wilson,Thomas J. Wang,Henry Völzke,Ann-Kristin Petersen,Christine Meisinger,Matthias Nauck,Sabrina Schlesinger,Yong Li,Joël Ménard,Serge Hercberg,H.-Erich Wichmann,Uwe Völker,Rajesh Rawal,Martin Bidlingmaier,Anke Hannemann,Marcus Dörr,Rainer Rettig,Wiek H. van Gilst,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,Stephan J. L. Bakker,Gerjan Navis,Henri Wallaschofski,Pierre Meneton,Pim van der Harst,Martin Reincke,Ramachandran S. Vasan +32 more
TL;DR: 2 genetic loci (kininogen 1 and kallikrein B) influencing key components of the RAAS are identified, consistent with the close interrelation between the kallIKrein–kinin system and theRAAS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Serum Thyrotropin with Anthropometric Markers of Obesity in the General Population
Daniel Tiller,Till Ittermann,Karin Halina Greiser,Christa Meisinger,Carsten Agger,Albert Hofman,Betina H. Thuesen,Allan Linneberg,Robin P. Peeters,Oscar H. Franco,Margit Heier,Alexander Kluttig,Karl Werdan,Bruno H. Stricker,Sabine Schipf,Marcello Ricardo Paulista Markus,Marcus Dörr,Henry Völzke,Johannes Haerting +18 more
TL;DR: High TSH serum levels were positively associated with current anthropometric markers, even in the study-specific reference ranges, as well as in the full range of serum TSH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relation between awareness of circulatory disorders and smoking in a general population health examination
TL;DR: Only a portion of smokers among the general population seems to be discouraged from smoking by circulatory disorders or its accompanying cognitive or emotional processes, suggesting a substantial portion of individuals who smoke despite their disease.
