Journal ArticleDOI
Variants in ABCG8 and TRAF3 genes confer risk for gallstone disease in admixed Latinos with Mapuche Native American ancestry
Bernabé I. Bustos,Eduardo Pérez-Palma,Stephan Buch,Lorena Azocar,Eleodoro Riveras,Giorgia D. Ugarte,Mohammad R. Toliat,Peter Nürnberg,Wolfgang Lieb,Andre Franke,Sebastian Hinz,Greta Burmeister,Witigo von Schönfels,Clemens Schafmayer,Henry Völzke,Uwe Völker,Georg Homuth,Markus M. Lerch,José Luis Santos,Klaus Puschel,Claudia Bambs,Juan Carlos Roa,Rodrigo A. Gutiérrez,Jochen Hampe,Giancarlo V. De Ferrari,Juan Francisco Miquel +25 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that ABCG8 and TRAF3 genes are associated with GSD and GBC in admixed Latinos and that decreased TRAf3 levels could enhance gallbladder inflammation as is observed in GSD-associated GBC.
Journal ArticleDOI
No Alterations of Brain Structural Asymmetry in Major Depressive Disorder: An ENIGMA Consortium Analysis.
Carolien G.F. de Kovel,Lyubomir I. Aftanas,André Aleman,Aaron Alexander-Bloch,Bernhard T. Baune,Ivan Brack,Robin Bülow,Geraldo Busatto Filho,Angela Carballedo,Colm G. Connolly,Colm G. TL;DR: Altered brain macro-anatomical asymmetry may be of little relevance to major depression etiology in most cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of sex hormone-binding globulin and testosterone in the risk of incident metabolic syndrome.
TL;DR: Although baseline SHBG predicts incident MetS independent of testosterone, change analyses suggest the testosterone decline as the main driver of the association between sex hormones and MetS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Secretin-stimulated MRCP in volunteers: assessment of safety, duct visualization, and pancreatic exocrine function.
Birger Mensel,Philip Messner,Julia Mayerle,Gabriele Fluhr,Henry Völzke,Markus M. Lerch,Till Ittermann,Jens-Peter Kühn +7 more
TL;DR: Secretin-stimulated MRCP moderately improves main pancreatic duct visualization and allows noninvasive quantification of pancreatic exocrine function with a negligible risk of side effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Higher odds of having anemia were observed in participants with both hypothyroid function and hyperthyroid function, and reduced thyroid function at baseline showed a trend of increased risk of developing anemia during follow-up.
