Journal ArticleDOI
Exercise blood pressure and heart rate reference values.
Sven Gläser,Nele Friedrich,Beate Koch,Christoph Schäper,Henry Völzke,Stephan B. Felix,Klaus Empen,Anke Hannemann,Ralf Ewert,Marcus Dörr +9 more
TL;DR: This study provides a reliable set of prediction equations for blood pressure and heart rate values at peak exercise, assessed in a general population over a wide age range.
Journal ArticleDOI
Posttraumatic stress disorder is associated with reduced vitamin D levels and functional polymorphisms of the vitamin D binding-protein in a population-based sample.
Jan Terock,Anke Hannemann,Sandra Van der Auwera,Sandra Van der Auwera,Deborah Janowitz,Carsten Spitzer,Sarah Bonk,Henry Völzke,Hans J. Grabe,Hans J. Grabe +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that an altered vitamin D metabolism may be involved in the pathophysiology of PTSD and genotypes of the Gc and thus Gc serum levels may impact on PTSD development over and above the effects of 25(OH)D.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thyroid disorders in employees of a nuclear power plant
Stefan Kindler,Markus Roser,Harald Below,Wolfgang Hoffmann,Thomas Kohlmann,Axel Kramer,Gerhard Kirsch,Henry Völzke +7 more
TL;DR: Investigating the association between occupational exposure to ionizing radiation and the risk of autoimmune thyroid disease as well as thyroid nodules and dysfunction in workers of a former nuclear power station found that nuclear power plant employees have an increased risk of elevated serum TSH levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prediabetes is associated with lower brain gray matter volume in the general population. The Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP).
Marcello Ricardo Paulista Markus,Till Ittermann,Katharina Wittfeld,Sabine Schipf,U. Siewert-Markus,Martin Bahls,Robin Bülow,Nicole Werner,Deborah Janowitz,S.E. Baumeister,Stephan B. Felix,Marcus Dörr,Wolfgang Rathmann,Henry Völzke,Hans-Jörgen Grabe +14 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that elevated FG levels, even within the prediabetic range, might already have some harmful effects on GMV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reference values for respiratory pressures in a general adult population - results of the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP)
Beate Koch,Christoph Schäper,Till Ittermann,Tom Bollmann,Henry Völzke,Stephan B. Felix,Ralf Ewert,Sven Gläser +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided a representative set of sex-specific prediction equations of respiratory muscle strength and showed that respiratory muscle pressure decreases with age and is lower in women when compared to men.
