TL;DR: PbGFPCON showed similar growth characteristics to wild type P. berghei parasites throughout the whole life cycle and can therefore be used as a reference line for future investigations of parasite-host cell interactions and is a useful tool to investigate the effect of further genetic modifications on host-parasite interactions.

A preliminary phylogeny of the scale insects (Hemiptera : Sternorrhyncha : Coccoidea) based on nuclear small-subunit ribosomal DNA
TL;DR: In this paper, a molecular phylogeny for the Coccoidea based on 39 species representing 14 putative families was presented, and it was shown that the DNA sequences derived from nuclear small-subunit ribosomal DNA were consistent with a single origin (in the ancestor of the neococcoid clade) of a chromosome system involving paternal genome elimination in males.

TL;DR: A single copy gene that is highly conserved amongst Plasmodium species that encodes a secreted protein named PxSR is reported that is completely novel in biology and is only found in Apicomplexa parasites and is expressed in sporozoites of both human and rodent malaria species.
