Instantaneous Wave-free Ratio versus Fractional Flow Reserve to Guide PCI
Matthias Götberg,Evald Høj Christiansen,Ingibjorg J. Gudmundsdottir,Lennart Sandhall,Mikael Danielewicz,Lars Jakobsen,Sven-Erik Olsson,Patrik Öhagen,Hans Olsson,Elmir Omerovic,Fredrik Calais,Pontus Lindroos,Michael Maeng,Tim Tödt,Dimitrios Venetsanos,Stefan James,Amra Kåregren,Margareta Nilsson,Jörg Carlsson,Dario Hauer,Jens Jensen,Ann-Charlotte Karlsson,Georgios Panayi,David Erlinge,Ole Fröbert +24 more
TL;DR: Among patients with stable angina or an acute coronary syndrome, an iFR‐ guided revascularization strategy was noninferior to an FFR‐guided revascularized strategy with respect to the rate of major adverse cardiac events at 12 months.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variants with large effects on blood lipids and the role of cholesterol and triglycerides in coronary disease
Anna Helgadottir,Anna Helgadottir,Solveig Gretarsdottir,Gudmar Thorleifsson,Eirikur Hjartarson,Asgeir Sigurdsson,Audur Magnusdottir,Aslaug Jonasdottir,Helgi Kristjansson,Patrick Sulem,Asmundur Oddsson,Gardar Sveinbjornsson,Valgerdur Steinthorsdottir,Thorunn Rafnar,Gisli Masson,Ingileif Jonsdottir,Ingileif Jonsdottir,Isleifur Olafsson,Gudmundur I. TL;DR: The genetic risk score for non-HDL cholesterol confers CAD risk beyond that of LDL cholesterol (P = 5.5 × 10−8), suggesting that targeting atherogenic remnant cholesterol may reduce cardiovascular risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Safety of the Deferral of Coronary Revascularization on the Basis of Instantaneous Wave-Free Ratio and Fractional Flow Reserve Measurements in Stable Coronary Artery Disease and Acute Coronary Syndromes.

TL;DR: Overall, deferral of revascularization is equally safe with both iFR and FFR, with a low MACE rate of about 4%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Negative-pressure wound therapy for deep sternal wound infections reduces the rate of surgical interventions for early re-infections
Steinn Steingrimsson,Magnus Gottfredsson,Ingibjorg J. Gudmundsdottir,Johan Sjögren,Tomas Gudbjartsson +4 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that NPWT should be considered as a first-line treatment for most DSWIs, and significantly reduces the risk of early re-infections in patients with DSWI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between Preoperative Opioid and Benzodiazepine Prescription Patterns and Mortality After Noncardiac Surgery
Martin I. Sigurdsson,Solveig Helgadottir,Thorir E Long,Dadi Helgason,Nathan H. Waldron,Runolfur Palsson,Olafur S. Indridason,Ingibjorg J. Gudmundsdottir,Tomas Gudbjartsson,Gisli H. Sigurdsson +9 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that opioid and benzodiazepine prescription fills in the 6 months before surgery are associated with increased short-and long-term mortality and an increased rate of persistent postoperative opioid consumption.
