Journal ArticleDOI
Reproducibility of pulse wave velocity and augmentation index measured by pulse wave analysis
Ian B. Wilkinson,Sabine A. Fuchs,Ilse M. Jansen,James C. Spratt,Gordon D Murray,John R. Cockcroft,David J. Webb +6 more
TL;DR: PWA is a simple and reproducible technique with which to measure PWV and AIx and may, therefore, be suitable for large-scale population and intervention studies investigating the clinical relevance of vascular stiffness.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomized multicentre trial to compare revascularization with optimal medical therapy for the treatment of chronic total coronary occlusions.
Gerald S. Werner,Victoria Martin-Yuste,David Hildick-Smith,Nicolas Boudou,Georgios Sianos,Valery Gelev,José Ramón Rumoroso,Andrejs Erglis,Evald Høj Christiansen,Javier Escaned,Carlo Di Mario,Thomas Hovasse,Luis Teruel,Alexander Bufe,Bernward Lauer,Kris Bogaerts,Javier Goicolea,James C. Spratt,Anthony H. Gershlick,Alfredo R. Galassi,Yves Louvard,Eurocto trial investigators +21 more
TL;DR: Percutaneous coronary intervention leads to a significant improvement of the health status in patients with stable angina and a CTO as compared with OMT alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Guiding Principles for Chronic Total Occlusion Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Global Expert Consensus Document

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identified seven common principles that are widely accepted as best practices for chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in CTO-PCI.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Hybrid Algorithm for Treating Chronic Total Occlusions in Europe The RECHARGE Registry
Joren Maeremans,Simon J Walsh,Paul Knaapen,James C. Spratt,Alexandre Avran,Colm G. Smith,Julian Strange,Joseph Dens +21 more
TL;DR: High procedure and patient success rates, combined with a low event rate and improved procedural characteristics, support further use of the hybrid algorithm for a broad community of appropriately trained CTO operators.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term follow-up of elective chronic total coronary occlusion angioplasty: analysis from the U.K. Central Cardiac Audit Database.
Sudhakar George,James Cockburn,Tim Clayton,Peter Ludman,James Cotton,James C. Spratt,Simon Redwood,Mark A. de Belder,Adam de Belder,Jonathan Hill,Angela Hoye,Nicholas D. Palmer,Sudhir Rathore,Anthony H. Gershlick,Carlo Di Mario,David Hildick-Smith +15 more
TL;DR: Successful CTO PCI was associated with improved long-term survival and the improvement was greatest in patients when complete revascularization was achieved, and the identity of the successfully treated occluded vessel was not associated with differences in outcome.
