Journal ArticleDOI
Genomic analyses implicate noncoding de novo variants in congenital heart disease.
Felix Richter,Sarah U. Morton,Seong Won Kim,Alexander Kitaygorodsky,Lauren K. Wasson,Kathleen M. Chen,Jian Zhou,Jian Zhou,Hongjian Qi,Nihir Patel,Steven R. DePalma,Michael Parfenov,Jason Homsy,Jason Homsy,Joshua M. Gorham,Kathryn B. Manheimer,Matt Velinder,Andrew Farrell,Gabor T. Marth,Eric E. Schadt,Jonathan R. Kaltman,Jane W. Newburger,Alessandro Giardini,Elizabeth Goldmuntz,Martina Brueckner,Richard B. Kim,George A. Porter,Daniel Bernstein,Wendy K. Chung,Deepak Srivastava,Martin Tristani-Firouzi,Olga G. Troyanskaya,Diane E. Dickel,Yufeng Shen,Jonathan G. Seidman,Christine E. Seidman,Bruce D. Gelb +36 more
TL;DR: Computational analyses integrating whole-genome sequencing, cardiac epigenomic data and RNA-binding-protein data identify a role for noncoding de novo mutations in congenital heart disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urine proteomics for discovery of improved diagnostic markers of Kawasaki disease.
Alex Kentsis,Andrew I. Shulman,Saima Ahmed,Eileen Brennan,Michael C. Monuteaux,Youngho Lee,Susan C. Lipsett,Joao A. Paulo,Fatma Dedeoglu,Robert C. Fuhlbrigge,Richard G. Bachur,Gary Bradwin,Moshe Arditi,Robert P. Sundel,Jane W. Newburger,Hanno Steen,Susan Kim +16 more
TL;DR: Urine proteome profiles revealed novel candidate molecular markers of KD, including filamin C and meprin A that exhibit excellent diagnostic performance, which may improve the diagnostic accuracy of clinical evaluations of children with suspected KD, lead to the identification of novel therapeutic targets, and allow the development of a biological classification of Kawasaki disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gene-expression patterns reveal underlying biological processes in Kawasaki disease
Stephen J. Popper,Chisato Shimizu,Hiroko Shike,John T. Kanegaye,Jane W. Newburger,Robert P. Sundel,Patrick O. Brown,Jane C. Burns,David A. Relman,David A. Relman +9 more
TL;DR: High levels of transcripts of the gene for carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1) were associated with an increased percentage of unsegmented neutrophils, fewer days of illness, higher levels of C-reactive protein, and subsequent non-response to IVIG, and was independent of day of illness.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated basic fibroblast growth factor levels in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Jacques I. Benisty,Vallerie V. McLaughlin,Michael J. Landzberg,Jonathan D. Rich,Jane W. Newburger,Stuart Rich,Judah Folkman +6 more
TL;DR: Patients with PAH have substantial alterations in urine and plasma levels of bFGF, which may have a role as a mitogenic factor in the endothelial and smooth-muscle cell proliferation seen in PAH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary artery outcomes among children with Kawasaki disease in the United States and Japan.
Shohei Ogata,Adriana H. Tremoulet,Yuichiro Sato,Kayla Ueda,Chisato Shimizu,Xiaoying Sun,Sonia Jain,Laura S. Silverstein,Annette L. Baker,Noboru Tanaka,Yoshihito Ogihara,Satoshi Ikehara,Shinichi Takatsuki,Naoko Sakamoto,Tohru Kobayashi,Shigeto Fuse,Tomoyo Matsubara,Masahiro Ishii,Tsutomu Saji,Jane W. Newburger,Jane C. Burns +20 more
TL;DR: Adoption of Z-scores as a standard for reporting CA internal diameters will allow meaningful comparisons among different countries and will facilitate international, collaborative clinical trials.
