Journal ArticleDOI

The worldwide leaf economics spectrum

TL;DR: Reliable quantification of the leaf economics spectrum and its interaction with climate will prove valuable for modelling nutrient fluxes and vegetation boundaries under changing land-use and climate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regulation of photosynthesis of C3 plants in response to progressive drought: stomatal conductance as a reference parameter.

TL;DR: A study with six Mediterranean shrubs revealed that, in spite of some marked interspecific differences, all followed the same pattern of dependence of photosynthetic processes on stomatal conductance, and this pattern was quite similar to that of grapevines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Steady-state chlorophyll fluorescence (Fs) measurements as a tool to follow variations of net CO2 assimilation and stomatal conductance during water-stress in C3 plants

TL;DR: The ratio Fs/Fo, measured with a portable instrument (PAM-2000 or with a remote sensing FIPAM system, provides a good method for the early detection of water stress, and may become a useful guide to irrigation requirements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Understanding down-regulation of photosynthesis under water stress: future prospects and searching for physiological tools for irrigation management

TL;DR: An analysis of published data reveals that a key regulatory role for Rubisco in photosynthesis is improbable under water stress conditions, and the little data available for other Calvin cycle enzymes suggest the possibility of a key Regulatory role for some enzymes involved in the regeneration of RuBP.
