TL;DR: This study linked genotype and phenotype data from 69 422 participants in the population-based HUNT (Nord-Trøndelag Health Study) with hospital records to explore unanticipated effects of long-term PCSK9 inhibition, and defined a new genetic risk score for serumPCSK9 and regressed this and an existing score on a range of outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sequential sentinel SNP regional association plots (SSS-RAP): An approach for testing independence of SNP association signals using Meta-Analysis Data
TL;DR: A numerical and graphical approach, “sequential sentinel SNP regional association plot” (SSS‐RAP), which estimates regression coefficients with their standard errors using the meta‐analysis summary results directly, and is a convenient approach based on biological principles for fine mapping in group level summary data.

The effect of plasma lipids and lipid lowering interventions on bone mineral density: a Mendelian randomization study
Jie Zheng,Marie-Jo Brion,John P. Kemp,Nicole M. Warrington,Carolina Borges,Gibran Hemani,Tom G. Richardson,Zhen Qiao,Philip C Haycock,Mika Ala-Korpela,George Davey Smith,Jon H Tobias,David M. Evans +12 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that effects of statins on BMD are at least partly due to their LDL-C lowering effect, and the potential role of modifying plasma lipid levels in treating osteoporosis is examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
OCT4-induced oligodendrocyte progenitor cells promote remyelination and ameliorate disease
Wonjin Yun,Kyung Ah Choi,Insik Hwang,Jie Zheng,Minji Park,Wonjun Hong,Ahram Jang,Jeong Hee Kim,Wonji Choi,Dae-Sung Kim,In Yong Kim,Yong Jun Kim,Yang Liu,Byung Sun Yoon,Gyu Ju Park,Gwonhwa Song,Sunghoi Hong,Seungkwon You +17 more
TL;DR: In this article , a combination of OCT4 and a small molecule cocktail was used to generate O2B5+ (an early marker for OPCs) iOPCs within 2 weeks retaining the ability to differentiate into MBP-positive mature oligodendrocytes.

Genetic effect modification of cis-acting C-reactive protein variants in cardiometabolic disease status
Jie Zheng,Haotian Tang,Matthew Lyon,Neil M Davies,Neil M Davies,Venexia M Walker,Venexia M Walker,James S. Floyd,Thomas R. Austin,Ali Shojaie,Bruce M. Psaty,Tom R. Gaunt,George Davey Smith +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated whether the genetic associations of four cis-acting C-reactive protein (CRP) variants differed between participants with and without three cardiometabolic conditions: obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
