Journal ArticleDOI
Transient x-ray fragmentation: probing a prototypical photoinduced ring opening
Vladimir S. Petrovic,M. Siano,James L. White,Nora Berrah,Christoph Bostedt,John D. Bozek,Douglas Broege,Max Chalfin,Ryan Coffee,James P. Cryan,Li Fang,J. P. Farrell,Leszek J. Frasinski,James M. Glownia,Markus Gühr,M. Hoener,David M. P. Holland,Jaehee Kim,Jonathan P. Marangos,Todd J. Martínez,Brian K. McFarland,Russell S. Minns,Shungo Miyabe,S. Schorb,Roseanne J. Sension,Limor S. Spector,Richard J. Squibb,Hongli Tao,Jonathan G. Underwood,Philip H. Bucksbaum +29 more
TL;DR: It is found that the ion-fragmentation patterns evolve over a picosecond, reflecting a change in the state of excitation and the molecular geometry: the average kinetic energy per ion fragment and H(+)-ion count increase as the ring opens and the molecule elongates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Charge transfer in dissociating iodomethane and fluoromethane molecules ionized by intense femtosecond X-ray pulses
Rebecca Boll,Benjamin Erk,Ryan Coffee,Sebastian Trippel,Thomas Kierspel,Cédric Bomme,John D. Bozek,Mitchell Burkett,Sebastian Carron,Ken R. Ferguson,Lutz Foucar,Jochen Küpper,Tatiana Marchenko,Catalin Miron,Minna Patanen,Timur Osipov,Sebastian Schorb,M. Simon,M. Swiggers,Simone Techert,Kiyoshi Ueda,Christoph Bostedt,Christoph Bostedt,Christoph Bostedt,Daniel Rolles,Artem Rudenko +25 more
TL;DR: The reconstructed critical distances for electron transfer are in good agreement with a classical over-the-barrier model and with an earlier experiment employing a near-infrared pump pulse.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resonance−enhanced multiple ionization of krypton at an x−ray free−electron laser
Benedikt Rudek,Daniel Rolles,Sang-Kil Son,Lutz Foucar,Benjamin Erk,Sascha W. Epp,Rebecca Boll,Denis Anielski,Christoph Bostedt,Sebastian Schorb,Sebastian Schorb,Ryan Coffee,John D. Bozek,Sebastian Trippel,Tatiana Marchenko,Marc Simon,Lauge Christensen,Shankar De,Shankar De,Shin-ichi Wada,Kiyoshi Ueda,Ilme Schlichting,Robin Santra,Joachim Ullrich,Artem Rudenko +24 more
TL;DR: The Max-Planck Advanced Study Group at CFEL, DESY, Notkestrase 85, 22607 Hamburg, Germany as mentioned in this paper, and the Max Planck Institute for Medizinische Forschung, Jahnstrase 29, 69120 Heidelberg, Germany.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbon 1 s core-hole lifetime in CO 2
T. X. Carroll,J. Hahne,T. D. Thomas,Leif J. Sæthre,Nora Berrah,John D. Bozek,E. Kukk,E. Kukk +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the lifetime of the carbon $1s$ photoelectron spectrum has been analyzed to obtain vibrational spacings, vibrational intensities, and the lifetime, assuming that only the valence electrons localized on the atom with the core hole can participate in Auger deexcitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size-dependent ultrafast ionization dynamics of nanoscale samples in intense femtosecond x-ray free-electron-laser pulses
Sebastian Schorb,Daniela Rupp,M. Swiggers,Ryan Coffee,Marc Messerschmidt,Garth J. Williams,John D. Bozek,Shin-ichi Wada,Shin-ichi Wada,Oleg Kornilov,Thomas Möller,Christoph Bostedt +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that for nanoscale objects the environment, i.e., nanoparticle size, is an important parameter for the time-dependent ionization dynamics and the Auger lifetimes of large Ar clusters are found to be increased compared to small clusters and isolated atoms.
