Journal ArticleDOI
Nonlinear silicon photonics
TL;DR: In this article, a review of nonlinear effects in silicon and highlights the important applications and technological solutions in nonlinear silicon photonics is presented. But the authors do not discuss the nonlinearities in silicon.
Journal ArticleDOI
Wireless sub-THz communication system with high data rate
S. Koenig,D. Lopez-Diaz,J. Antes,J. Antes,F. Boes,F. Boes,R. Henneberger,Arnulf Leuther,Axel Tessmann,Rene Schmogrow,Rene Schmogrow,David Hillerkuss,David Hillerkuss,Robert Palmer,Thomas Zwick,Christian Koos,Wolfgang Freude,Oliver Ambacher,Juerg Leuthold,Juerg Leuthold,Ingmar Kallfass,Ingmar Kallfass +21 more
TL;DR: A wireless sub-THz communication system near 237.5 GHz with one to three carriers and up to 100 Gbit/s with state-of-the-art active I/Q-MMIC at the Rx is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
All-optical high-speed signal processing with silicon–organic hybrid slot waveguides
Christian Koos,Christian Koos,P. Vorreau,Thomas Vallaitis,Pieter Dumon,Wim Bogaerts,Roel Baets,Bweh Esembeson,Ivan Biaggio,Tsuyoshi Michinobu,François Diederich,Wolfgang Freude,Juerg Leuthold +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a silicon-organic hybrid slot waveguide with a strong optical nonlinearity is demonstrated to perform ultrafast all-optical demultiplexing of high-bit-rate data streams.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coherent terabit communications with microresonator Kerr frequency combs.
J. Pfeifle,Victor Brasch,Matthias Lauermann,Yimin Yu,Daniel M. Wegner,Tobias Herr,Klaus Hartinger,Philipp Schindler,Jingshi Li,David Hillerkuss,Rene Schmogrow,Claudius Weimann,Ronald Holzwarth,Wolfgang Freude,Juerg Leuthold,Tobias J. Kippenberg,Christian Koos +16 more
TL;DR: This work shows that systematic adjustment of pump conditions for low phase noise enables coherent data transmission with advanced modulation formats that pose stringent requirements on the spectral purity of the comb and offers an attractive solution towards chip-scale terabit/s transceivers.
Journal ArticleDOI
26 Tbit s-1 line-rate super-channel transmission utilizing all-optical fast Fourier transform processing
David Hillerkuss,Rene Schmogrow,T. Schellinger,M. Jordan,M. Winter,G. Huber,Thomas Vallaitis,Rene Bonk,P. Kleinow,F. Frey,M. Roeger,S. Koenig,A. Ludwig,A. Marculescu,Jingshi Li,M. Hoh,M. Dreschmann,J. Meyer,S. Ben Ezra,N. Narkiss,Bernd Nebendahl,Francesca Parmigiani,Periklis Petropoulos,Bojan Resan,Andreas Oehler,Kurt J. Weingarten,T. Ellermeyer,J. Lutz,M. Moeller,Michael Huebner,Jürgen Becker,Christian Koos,Wolfgang Freude,Juerg Leuthold +33 more
TL;DR: An optical fast Fourier transform scheme is demonstrated that provides the necessary computing power to encode lower-bitrate tributaries into 10.8 and 26.0 Tbit s-1 line-rate orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) data streams and to decode them from fibre-transmitted OFDM data streams.
