Journal ArticleDOI
MIF is a noncognate ligand of CXC chemokine receptors in inflammatory and atherogenic cell recruitment
Jürgen Bernhagen,Regina M. Krohn,Hongqi Lue,Julia L. Gregory,Alma Zernecke,Rory R. Koenen,Manfred Dewor,Ivan T. Georgiev,Andreas Schober,Lin Leng,Teake Kooistra,Gunter Fingerle-Rowson,Pietro Ghezzi,Robert Kleemann,Shaun R. McColl,Richard Bucala,Michael J. Hickey,Christian Weber +17 more
TL;DR: Targeting MIF in individuals with manifest atherosclerosis can potentially be used to treat this condition and displays chemokine-like functions and acts as a major regulator of inflammatory cell recruitment and atherogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Local proliferation maintains a stable pool of tissue-resident memory T cells after antiviral recall responses.
Simone L Park,Ali Zaid,Jyh Liang Hor,Susan N Christo,Julia E. Prier,Brooke Davies,Yannick O. Alexandre,Julia L. Gregory,Tiffany A. Russell,Thomas Gebhardt,Francis R. Carbone,David C. Tscharke,William R. Heath,Scott N. Mueller,Laura K. Mackay +14 more
TL;DR: It is found that skin TRM cells engaged virus-infected cells, proliferated in situ in response to local antigen encounter and did not migrate out of the epidermis, which enables multiple TRM cell specificities to be stably maintained within the tissue.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interstitial fluid drainage is impaired in ischemic stroke and Alzheimer’s disease mouse models
Michal Arbel-Ornath,Eloise Hudry,Katharina Eikermann-Haerter,Steven S. Hou,Julia L. Gregory,Lingzhi Zhao,Rebecca A. Betensky,Matthew P. Frosch,Steven M. Greenberg,Brian J. Bacskai +9 more
TL;DR: This work devised a novel method to visualize solute clearance in real time in the living mouse brain using laser guided bolus dye injections and multiphoton imaging and revealed the kinetics of ISF clearance, finding that the ISF drains along perivascular spaces of arteries and capillaries but not veins, and its clearance exhibits a bi-exponential profile.
Journal ArticleDOI
Macrophage migration inhibitory factor induces macrophage recruitment via CC chemokine ligand 2.
Julia L. Gregory,Eric F Morand,Sonja J. McKeown,Jennifer A. Ralph,Pam Hall,Yuan Hang Yang,Shaun R. McColl,Michael J. Hickey +7 more
TL;DR: It is reported that MIF is capable of inducing leukocyte adhesion and transmigration in postcapillary venules in vivo, demonstrating a previously unrecognized function of this pleiotropic cytokine: induction of monocyte migration into tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cerebrovascular lesions induce transient β-amyloid deposition
Monica Garcia-Alloza,Monica Garcia-Alloza,Julia L. Gregory,Kishore V. Kuchibhotla,Sara Fine,Ying Wei,Cenk Ayata,Matthew P. Frosch,Steven M. Greenberg,Brian J. Bacskai +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that strokes can trigger accelerated amyloid deposition, most likely through interference with amyloids clearance pathways, and that focal ischaemia provides an experimental paradigm in which to study the mechanisms of plaque seeding and growth.
