The population of Milky Way satellites in the Λ cold dark matter cosmology
Andreea S. Font,Andreea S. Font,Andrew J. Benson,Richard G. Bower,Carlos S. Frenk,Andrew P. Cooper,G. DeLucia,John C. Helly,Amina Helmi,Ye Li,Ye Li,Ian G. McCarthy,Julio F. Navarro,Volker Springel,Volker Springel,Else Starkenburg,Jie Wang,Simon D. M. White +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a model for the satellites of the Milky Way in which galaxy formation is followed using semi-analytic techniques applied to the six high-resolution N-body simulations of galactic haloes of the Aquarius project.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accretion relics in the solar neighbourhood : Debris from ωCen's parent galaxy
TL;DR: In this article, the authors use numerical simulations to investigate the orbital characteristics of tidal debris from satellites whose orbits are dragged into the plane of the disk by dynamical friction before disruption, and find that these satellites may deposit a significant fraction of their stars into the disk components of a galaxy.
Journal ArticleDOI
The inner structure of ΛCDM haloes – II. Halo mass profiles and low surface brightness galaxy rotation curves
Eric Hayashi,Julio F. Navarro,Chris Power,Adrian Jenkins,Carlos S. Frenk,Simon D. M. White,Volker Springel,Joachim Stadel,Thomas R. Quinn +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a set of high-resolution cosmological N-body simulations were used to investigate the inner mass profile of galaxy-sized cold dark matter (CDM) haloes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ulisse Munari,Arne Henden,A. Frigo,Tomaž Zwitter,Olivier Bienaymé,Joss Bland-Hawthorn,Corrado Boeche,Kenneth C. Freeman,Brad K. Gibson,Brad K. Gibson,Gerard Gilmore,Eva K. Grebel,Amina Helmi,Georges Kordopatis,Stephen E. Levine,Julio F. Navarro,Quentin A. Parker,Quentin A. Parker,Warren A. Reid,George M. Seabroke,Arnaud Siebert,Alessandro Siviero,T. C. Smith,Matthias Steinmetz,Matthew R. Templeton,Dirk Terrell,D. L. Welch,Mary E K Williams,Rosemary F. G. Wyse +28 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the AAVSO Photometric All-Sky Survey (APASS) photometry in the Landolt BV and Sloan g'r'i' bands for all 425,743 stars included in the fourth RAVE Data Release is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cosmic M\'enage \`a Trois: The Origin of Satellite Galaxies On Extreme Orbits
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the orbits of satellite galaxies identified in a suite of N-body/gas-dynamical simulations of the formation of $L_*$ galaxies in a LCDM universe.
