A common BIM deletion polymorphism mediates intrinsic resistance and inferior responses to tyrosine kinase inhibitors in cancer.
King Pan Ng,Axel M. Hillmer,Charles Chuah,Charles Chuah,Wen Chun Juan,Tun Kiat Ko,Audrey S.M. Teo,Pramila N. Ariyaratne,Naoto Takahashi,Kenichi Sawada,Yao Fei,Yao Fei,Sheila Soh,Wah Heng Lee,John W.J. Soo,Tan Min Chin,Wan-Teck Lim,Yijun Ruan,Yijun Ruan,S. Tiong Ong +59 more
TL;DR: The results offer an explanation for the heterogeneity of TKI responses across individuals and suggest the possibility of personalizing therapy with BH3 mimetics to overcome BIM-polymorphism–associated TKI resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective PCR-based screening for the EML4-ALK oncogene in non-small cell lung cancer.
Manabu Soda,Kazutoshi Isobe,Akira Inoue,Makoto Maemondo,Satoshi Oizumi,Yuka Fujita,Akihiko Gemma,Yoshihiro Yamashita,Toshihide Ueno,Kengo Takeuchi,Young Lim Choi,Hitoshi Miyazawa,Tomoaki Tanaka,Koichi Hagiwara,Hiroyuki Mano +14 more
TL;DR: Multiplex RT-PCR was confirmed to be a reliable technique for detection of ALK fusion transcripts and it is proposed that diagnostic tools for EML4-ALK should be selected in a manner dependent on the available specimen types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema versus idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis alone.
Keishi Sugino,Fumiaki Ishida,Naoshi Kikuchi,Nao Hirota,Go Sano,Keita Sato,Kazutoshi Isobe,Susumu Sakamoto,Yujiro Takai,Sakae Homma +9 more
TL;DR: The objective was to determine prognosis and the prognostic factors for CPFE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical Significance of BIM Deletion Polymorphism in Non–Small-Cell Lung Cancer with Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Mutation
Kazutoshi Isobe,Yoshinobu Hata,Naobumi Tochigi,Kyohei Kaburaki,Hiroshi Kobayashi,Takashi Makino,Hajime Otsuka,Fumitomo Sato,Fumiaki Ishida,Naoshi Kikuchi,Nao Hirota,Keita Sato,Go Sano,Keishi Sugino,Susumu Sakamoto,Yujiro Takai,Kazutoshi Shibuya,Akira Iyoda,Sakae Homma +18 more
TL;DR: Polymerase chain reaction successfully detected BIM deletion in samples of peripheral blood and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded slides of surgical specimens, and this was the most important independent prognostic factor in shorter PFS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical characteristics of acute respiratory deterioration in pulmonary fibrosis associated with lung cancer following anti-cancer therapy.
TL;DR: The clinical characteristics and risk factors for acute respiratory deterioration following anti‐cancer therapy in patients with pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer are clarified.
