Journal ArticleDOI
Dectin-2 Recognition of α-Mannans and Induction of Th17 Cell Differentiation Is Essential for Host Defense against Candida albicans
Shinobu Saijo,Satoshi Ikeda,Keiko Yamabe,Shigeru Kakuta,Harumichi Ishigame,Aoi Akitsu,Noriyuki Fujikado,Toshimasa Kusaka,Sachiko Kubo,Soo Hyun Chung,Ryohei Komatsu,Noriko Miura,Yoshiyuki Adachi,Naohito Ohno,Kazutoshi Shibuya,Natsuo Yamamoto,Kazuyoshi Kawakami,Sho Yamasaki,Takashi Saito,Shizuo Akira,Yoichiro Iwakura +20 more
TL;DR: This study suggests that Dectin-2 is important in host defense against C. albicans by inducing Th17 cell differentiation and generates Clec4n(-/-) mice that had virtually no fungal alpha-mannan-induced cytokine production.
Journal ArticleDOI
Catalases of Aspergillus fumigatus
Sophie Paris,Deborah R. Wysong,J P Debeaupuis,Kazutoshi Shibuya,Bruno Philippe,Richard D. Diamond,Jean-Paul Latgé +6 more
TL;DR: The mycelial catalase Cat1p was studied in this paper, showing that mycelium of the double Δcat1Δcat2 mutant exhibited only slightly increased sensitivity to H2O2 and was as sensitive to killing by polymorphonuclear neutrophils as the wild-type strain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of ACE and ACE2 in individuals with diabetic kidney disease and healthy controls.
Sonoo Mizuiri,Hiromichi Hemmi,Michitsune Arita,Yasushi Ohashi,Yoshihide Tanaka,Moriatsu Miyagi,Ken Sakai,Yukio Ishikawa,Kazutoshi Shibuya,Hiroki Hase,Atsushi Aikawa +10 more
TL;DR: The high ACE/ACE2 ratio in kidneys of patients with type 2 diabetes with overt nephropathy may contribute to renal injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Instability Caused by Loss of MutS Homologue 3 in Human Colorectal Cancer
Astrid C. Haugen,Ajay Goel,Kanae Yamada,Giancarlo Marra,Thuy Nguyen,Takeshi Nagasaka,Shinsaku Kanazawa,Junichi Koike,Yoshinori Kikuchi,Xiaoling Zhong,Michitsune Arita,Kazutoshi Shibuya,Mitsuo Oshimura,Hiromichi Hemmi,C. Richard Boland,Minoru Koi +15 more
TL;DR: It is reported that MutS homologue 3 (MSH3) knockdown or MSH3-deficient cells exhibit the EMAST phenotype and low levels of mutations at dinucleotide repeats, which support the concept that MSh3 deficiency causes EMAST or EMAST withLow levels of MSI at loci with din nucleotide repeats in CRC
Journal Article
Molecular diagnosis and epidemiology of fungal infections.
E. Reiss,K Tanaka,G Bruker,Valerie Chazalet,David C. Coleman,J P Debeaupuis,Ryo Hanazawa,J. P. Latgé,Jacques Lortholary,Koichi Makimura,C J Morrison,Somay Yamagata Murayama,S Naoe,Sophie Paris,J. Sarfati,Kazutoshi Shibuya,Derek J. Sullivan,Katsuhisa Uchida,H. Yamaguchi +18 more
TL;DR: Studies with blood, cerebrospinal fluid and sputum specimens from patients with mycoses indicated that the PCR assay is more sensitive in diagnosing invasive fungal infections than blood culture methods, and simple, rapid sample preparation was suitable for PCR analysis of BacT/Alert blood culture bottles.
