Irreversible Conduction Block in Isolated Nerve by High Concentrations of Local Anesthetics

TL;DR: The uptake by and washout of radiolabeled lidocaine from the nerves indicate that the maximum amount of residual drug after 2–4 min of exposure to 5% lidocane and a 3-h wash should cause at most only 50% conduction block.
Journal ArticleDOI

Consensus guidelines from the American Society of Peritoneal Surface Malignancies on standardizing the delivery of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in colorectal cancer patients in the United States

TL;DR: This recommendation on a standardized delivery of HIPEC in patients with colorectal cancer represents an important first step in enhancing research in this field and studies directed at maximizing the efficacy of each of the key elements will need to follow.
Journal ArticleDOI

Validation of a Breast Cancer Nomogram for Predicting Nonsentinel Lymph Node Metastases after a Positive Sentinel Node Biopsy

TL;DR: The nomogram may help predict an individual’s risk of non-SLN metastases and assist in patient decision making regarding the benefit of CLND and TIC seems to be an acceptable substitute for frozen section as a nomogram variable.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interval Hepatic Resection of Colorectal Metastases Improves Patient Selection

TL;DR: Delaying hepatic resection for metastatic colorectal cancer does not impair survival and, for synchronous metastases, delaying hepatic reevaluation appears to select patients who will benefit from hepatics resection.
