Van Tassell,Albert J. Vilella,Kelly P. Williams,James A. Yorke,Liqing Zhang,Hong-Bin Zhang,Xiaojun Zhang,Yang Zhang,Kent M. Reed +72 more
TL;DR: The combined application of next-generation sequencing platforms has provided an economical approach to unlocking the potential of the turkey genome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Generation of germline ablated male pigs by CRISPR/Cas9 editing of the NANOS2 gene
Ki-Eun Park,Ki-Eun Park,Amy V. Kaucher,Anne M. Powell,Muhammad Salman Waqas,Shelley E. S. Sandmaier,Shelley E. S. Sandmaier,Melissa J. Oatley,Chi-Hun Park,Chi-Hun Park,Ahmed Tibary,David M. Donovan,Le Ann Blomberg,Simon G. Lillico,C. Bruce A. Whitelaw,Alan J. Mileham,Bhanu Prakash V.L. Telugu,Bhanu Prakash V.L. Telugu,Jon M. Oatley +18 more
TL;DR: It is found that NANOS2 knockout pigs phenocopy knockout mice with male specific germline ablation but other aspects of testicular development are normal and male pigs with one intact NANos2 allele and female knockout pigs are fertile.
Journal ArticleDOI
The pursuit of ES cell lines of domesticated ungulates.
Neil C. Talbot,Le Ann Blomberg +1 more
TL;DR: Thorough molecular characterizations, including the elucidation of stem cell “marker” signaling cascade hierarchy, species-appropriate pluripotency markers, and pluripOTency-associated chromatin alterations in the genomes of ungulate species, should improve the chances of developing efficient, reproducible technologies for the establishment of ES cell lines of economically important species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serial analysis of gene expression during elongation of the peri-implantation porcine trophectoderm (conceptus)
Le Ann Blomberg,Ezhou L. Long,Tad S. Sonstegard,Curtis P. Van Tassell,J.R. Dobrinsky,Kurt A. Zuelke +5 more
TL;DR: The results validate the utility of SAGE in the pig and establish an initial model linking gene expression profiles at the pathway level with phenotypic progression from ovoid to filamentous stages of conceptus development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression Analysis of Pluripotency Factors in the Undifferentiated Porcine Inner Cell Mass and Epiblast During In Vitro Culture
TL;DR: The data demonstrate the potential use of some pluripotency factors as markers of porcine epiblast stem cells and indicate that the in vitro environment may influence the cultured epiblasts's developmental state.
