TL;DR: Comparison of the two species' genomes reveals a rapid expansion and diversification of many protein families associated with plant infection such as hydrolases, ABC transporters, protein toxins, proteinase inhibitors, and, in particular, a superfamily of 700 proteins with similarity to known oömycete avirulence genes.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The combined application of next-generation sequencing platforms has provided an economical approach to unlocking the potential of the turkey genome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Construction of BAC and BIBAC libraries and their applications for generation of SSR markers for genome analysis of chickpea, Cicer arietinum L.
Judith Lichtenzveig,Judith Lichtenzveig,Judith Lichtenzveig,Chantel F. Scheuring,J. Dodge,Shahal Abbo,Hong-Bin Zhang +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that BACs are an excellent source for SSR marker development in chickpea and the distribution of the SSR loci appeared non-random.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation of megabase-sized DNA from a variety of organisms using the nuclei method for advanced genomics research
Meiping Zhang,Yang Zhang,Chantel F. Scheuring,Chengcang Wu,Chengcang Wu,Jennifer J Dong,Jennifer J Dong,Hong-Bin Zhang +7 more
TL;DR: The nuclei method is described, successfully used to prepare high-quality megabase-sized DNA from hundreds of plant, animal, fish, insect, algal and microbial species and substantially improving the digestibility and clonability of the resultant DNA.
Journal ArticleDOI
A molecular marker for lateral root initiation: The RSI-1 gene of tomato ( Lycopersicon esculentum Mill) is activated in early lateral root primordia
TL;DR: The frequency of lateral root initiation in tomato seedling roots is increased over eightfold in response to 1.6 μM α-naphthaleneacetic acid and GUS activity was observed in both lateral and adventitious root initials, including very early initials, and persisted until shortly after the lateral emerged from the parent tissue.
