The Alzheimer's Association external quality control program for cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers

Niklas Mattsson, +77 more
TL;DR: The cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers amyloid β (Aβ)‐42, total‐Tau (T‐tau), and phosphorylated‐t Tau (P‐tAU) demonstrate good diagnostic accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD), but there are large variations in biomarker measurements between studies, and between and within laboratories.
Journal ArticleDOI

Disease-modifying properties of long-term lithium treatment for amnestic mild cognitive impairment: randomised controlled trial

TL;DR: The notion that lithium has disease-modifying properties with potential clinical implications in the prevention of Alzheimer's disease is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Increased Serum IL-1β Level in Alzheimer’s Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment

TL;DR: In this article, an abnormal inflammatory response has been associated to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and may be a marker of an ongoing neurodegenerative process, and abnormal inflammatory responses have been associated with the progression of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidative stress in early stage Bipolar Disorder and the association with response to lithium.

TL;DR: The present findings suggest a reactive increase in antioxidant enzymes levels during depressive episodes in early stage BD with minimal prior treatment and decreased lipid peroxidation levels were observed, associated with lithium's clinical efficacy.
