Journal ArticleDOI
Photophysical properties and singlet oxygen generation of three sets of halogenated corroles.
Wenli Shao,Hui Wang,Shuang He,Lei Shi,Kai-Mei Peng,Yongfeng Lin,Lei Zhang,Liang-Nian Ji,Hai-Yang Liu +8 more
TL;DR: Of all peripherally fluorine-substituted corroles, F10 exhibited the highest singlet oxygen quantum yield and both gallium corrole complexes display much stronger fluorescence with the large blue-shifts of emission peaks and slightly higher triplet quantum yields but smaller oxygen quenching rates and singlets oxygen quantum yields.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thyrotropin Receptor Activation Increases Hyaluronan Production in Preadipocyte Fibroblasts CONTRIBUTORY ROLE IN HYALURONAN ACCUMULATION IN THYROID DYSFUNCTION
Lei Zhang,Timothy Bowen,Fiona Grennan-Jones,Carol Ann Paddon,Peter Giles,Jason P. Webber,Robert Steadman,Marian Ludgate +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that TSHR activation is implicated in HA production in preadipocytes, which, along with thyroid hormone level variation, explains the HA overproduction in thyroid dysfunction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing the effects of metropolitan-wide quarantine on the spread of COVID-19 in public space and households.
TL;DR: The impact of the metropolitan-wide quarantine on the trend and transmission route of the COVID-19 epidemic in Hubei, China is evaluated to provide important evidence and scientific insights to other worldwide countries that are currently under quarantine.
Journal ArticleDOI
A multicentre double-blind randomised controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of daily use of antibacterial mouthwash against oropharyngeal gonorrhoea among men who have sex with men: the OMEGA (Oral Mouthwash use to Eradicate GonorrhoeA) study protocol
Eric P F Chow,Sandra Walker,Jane S Hocking,Catriona S. Bradshaw,Marcus Y Chen,Sepehr N. Tabrizi,Sepehr N. Tabrizi,Benjamin P Howden,Matthew Law,Kate Maddaford,Tim R H Read,David A. Lewis,David M. Whiley,Lei Zhang,Andrew E. Grulich,John M. Kaldor,Vincent J Cornelisse,Samuel Phillips,Basil Donovan,Basil Donovan,Anna McNulty,Anna McNulty,David J Templeton,David J Templeton,Norman Roth,Richard D. Moore,Christopher K Fairley +26 more
TL;DR: If shown to be effective, the widespread use of mouthwash will reduce the prevalence of oropharyngeal gonorrhoea, which plays key role in driving the emergence of gonococcal antimicrobial resistance through DNA exchange with oral commensal bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological effects of thyrotropin receptor activation on human orbital preadipocytes.
TL;DR: TSHR activation stimulates early differentiation (favoring BAT formation?) but renders preadipocytes refractory to PPARgamma-induced adipogenesis, suggesting that terminal stages of differentiation were inhibited.
