Journal ArticleDOI
The absence of isotopic effect during the elimination of deuterium labelled carbamazepine in the rat
John Osterloh,Leif Bertilsson +1 more
TL;DR: Caramazepine labelled with four deuterium atoms in the aromatic rings has been synthesized and when an equimolar mixture of labelled and unlabelled drug was administered to rats, almost identical elimination kinetics were demonstrated for the two compounds, showing the absence of an isotopic effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
CYP2D6, serotonin and suicide
TL;DR: In this article, the serotonergic mechanisms are involved in the etiology of suicidal behavior and decreased concentrations of 5-hydroxy-indole acetic acid in cerebrospinal fluid from suicidal patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma Levels of 25‐Hydroxyvitamin D3 and In Vivo Markers of Cytochrome P450 3A Activity in Swedes and Koreans: Effects of a Genetic Polymorphism and Oral Contraceptives
Hanna Nylén,Linda Björkhem-Bergman,Lena Ekström,Hyung-Keun Roh,Leif Bertilsson,Erik Eliasson,Jonatan D. Lindh,Ulf Diczfalusy +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the overall influence on the CYP3A activity by 25‐hydroxyvitamin D3 is of marginal importance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuropsychiatric manifestations among HIV-1 infected African patients receiving efavirenz-based cART with or without tuberculosis treatment containing rifampicin
Sabina Mugusi,Eliford Ngaimisi,M. Janabi,Ferdinand Mugusi,Omary Minzi,Eric Aris,Muhammad Bakari,Leif Bertilsson,Juergen Burhenne,Eric Sandström,Eleni Aklillu +10 more
TL;DR: Incidence of neuropsychiatric manifestations during early initiation of efavirenz-based cART is high in Tanzanian HIV patients and is three times more in HIV-only patients compared to HIV-TB (p’< 0.01).
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term efavirenz pharmacokinetics is comparable between Tanzanian HIV and HIV/Tuberculosis patients with the same CYP2B6*6 genotype
Eliford Ngaimisi Kitabi,Eliford Ngaimisi Kitabi,Omary Minzi,Sabina Mugusi,Philip Sasi,Mohamed Janabi,Ferdinand Mugusi,Leif Bertilsson,Jürgen Burhenne,Eleni Aklillu +9 more
TL;DR: After 16 weeks of treatment, efavirenz clearance is comparable between HIV and HIV/Tuberculosis patients with the same CYP2B6 genotype, which should guide efvirenz dosing to optimize treatment outcomes.
