Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidative burden and mitochondrial dysfunction in a mouse model of Rett syndrome
Emanuel Großer,Ursula Hirt,Oliwia A. Janc,Christiane Menzfeld,Marc Fischer,Belinda Kempkes,Steffen Vogelgesang,Till U. Manzke,Lennart Opitz,Gabriela Salinas-Riester,Michael Müller +10 more
TL;DR: Targeting cellular redox balance might qualify as a potential pharmacotherapeutic approach to improve neuronal network function in Rett syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Upregulation of miRNA hsa-miR-342-3p in experimental and idiopathic prion disease
Judith Montag,Reiner Hitt,Lennart Opitz,Walter J. Schulz-Schaeffer,Gerhard Hunsmann,Dirk Motzkus +5 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that upregulation of hsa-miR-342-3p may be a general phenomenon in late stage prion disease and might be used as a novel marker for animal and human TSEs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maternal overnutrition programs hedonic and metabolic phenotypes across generations through sperm tsRNAs.
Gitalee Sarker,Wenfei Sun,David Rosenkranz,Pawel Pelczar,Lennart Opitz,Vissarion Efthymiou,Christian Wolfrum,Daria Peleg-Raibstein +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that sperm tsRNA is a potential vector that contributes to the transmission of MHFD-induced addictive-like behaviors and obesogenic phenotypes across generations, thereby emphasizing its role in diverse pathological outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hemoglobinuria-related acute kidney injury is driven by intrarenal oxidative reactions triggering a heme toxicity response.
Jeremy W. Deuel,Christian A. Schaer,Felicitas S Boretti,Lennart Opitz,Inés García-Rubio,Jin Hyen Baek,Donat R. Spahn,Paul W. Buehler,Dominik J. Schaer +8 more
TL;DR: In models of stored blood transfusion and hemoglobin (Hb) exposure in guinea pigs and beagle dogs, experiments confirmed that free heme is a likely trigger of tubule barrier deregulation and oxidative cell damage and reinforced the hypothesis that uncontrolledfree heme could trigger the UPR as an important pathway of renal injury during hemoglobinuria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Populational equilibrium through exosome-mediated Wnt signaling in tumor progression of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
Raphael Koch,Martin Demant,Thiha Aung,Nina Diering,Anna Cicholas,Bjoern Chapuy,Dirk Wenzel,Marlen Lahmann,Annemarie Güntsch,Christina Kiecke,Sabrina Becker,Timo Hupfeld,Vivek Venkataramani,Marita Ziepert,Lennart Opitz,Wolfram Klapper,Lorenz Trümper,Gerald Wulf +17 more
TL;DR: It is shown that diffuse large B-cell lymphomas possess a self-organized infrastructure comprising side population (SP) and non-SP cells, where transitions between clonogenic states are modulated by exosome-mediated Wnt signaling.
