Moore,Anderson Miyoshi,Guilherme Oliveira,Guilherme Oliveira,Vasco Azevedo +61 more
TL;DR: These particular genome characteristics of C. pseudotuberculosis, as well as its acquired virulence factors in pathogenicity islands, provide evidence of its lifestyle and of the pathogenic pathways used by this pathogen in the infection process.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Comparative genomic data suggest a unique ecological shift in the Sporothrix lineage from plant-association to mammalian parasitism, which contributes to the understanding of how environmental interactions may shape fungal virulence.
Journal ArticleDOI
New insights into the immunopathology of early Toxocara canis infection in mice.
Nathalia Maria Resende,Nathalia Maria Resende,Pedro Henrique Gazzinelli-Guimarães,Fernando Sérgio Barbosa,Luciana M. Oliveira,Denise Silva Nogueira,Ana Clara Gazzinelli-Guimarães,Marco Túlio Porto Gonçalves,Chiara Cássia Oliveira Amorim,Fabrício Marcus Silva Oliveira,Marcelo Vidigal Caliari,Milene Alvarenga Rachid,Gustavo Tadeu Volpato,Lilian Lacerda Bueno,Stefan M. Geiger,Ricardo Toshio Fujiwara +15 more
TL;DR: Experiments with T. canis infection in mice enabled a better understanding of the immunopathological events that might also occur during human toxocariasis, thus contributing to future strategies of diagnosis and control.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome sequence of the model sulfate reducer Desulfovibrio gigas: A comparative analysis within the Desulfovibrio genus
Fabio O. Morais-Silva,Antonio Mauro Rezende,Catarina Pimentel,Catia I. Santos,Carla Clemente,Ana Varela–Raposo,Daniela de Melo Resende,Sofia M. da Silva,Luciana M. Oliveira,Luciana M. Oliveira,Marcia Matos,Daniela A Costa,Orfeu Flores,Jeronimo C. Ruiz,Claudina Rodrigues-Pousada +14 more
TL;DR: The sequencing of the D. gigas genome provides insights into the integrated network of energy conserving complexes and structures present in this bacterium and reveals the presence of two different CRISPR/Cas systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
The TryPIKinome of five human pathogenic trypanosomatids: Trypanosoma brucei, Trypanosoma cruzi, Leishmania major, Leishmania braziliensis and Leishmania infantum - New tools for designing specific inhibitors
Diana Bahia,Luciana M. Oliveira,Fabio Mitsuo Lima,Priscila Oliveira,José Franco da Silveira,Renato A. Mortara,Jeronimo C. Ruiz +6 more
TL;DR: The first report on a survey made by similarity searches against the five human pathogenic trypanosomatid genomes available to date for phosphatidylinositol- and related-kinases (TryPIKs) suggests that new subtype-specific inhibitors are expected to work on individual members of the PIK family and, therefore, can presumably neutralize trypano-based invasion processes.
