Thickness dependence of exchange bias and structure in MnPt and MnNi spin valves

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe x-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements of annealed MnPt and NiMn spin valves as a function of the film thickness and show that the lack of chemical order in thin films is likely due to a lack of nucleation sites for the L10 phase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metallization of Epitaxial VO2 Films by Ionic Liquid Gating through Initially Insulating TiO2 Layers.

TL;DR: It is shown that it is possible to metallize the entire volume of 10 nm thick layers of VO2 buried under layers of rutile titanium dioxide (TiO2) up to 10nm thick through ionic liquid gating of initially insulating layers formed from several different oxide materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Field Effect and Strongly Localized Carriers in the Metal-Insulator Transition Material VO(2).

TL;DR: The intrinsic field effect, the change in surface conductance with an applied transverse electric field, of prototypal strongly correlated VO(2) has remained elusive and is reported enabled by epitaxial VO( 2) and atomic layer deposited high-κ dielectrics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of the electronic density of states near buried interfaces: Application to Co/Cu multilayers

TL;DR: High-resolution x-ray absorption and emission spectra of Co and Cu in Co/Cu multilayers are shown to provide unique information on the occupied and unoccupied density of d states near buried interfaces.
