TL;DR: Analysis of molecular divergence compared with yeasts and metazoans reveals rapid rates of gene diversification in diatoms, and documents the presence of hundreds of genes from bacteria, likely to provide novel possibilities for metabolite management and for perception of environmental signals.
Journal ArticleDOI
UV-B photoreceptor-mediated signalling in plants
Marc Heijde,Roman Ulm +1 more
TL;DR: The current understanding of the UVR8 photoreceptor-mediated pathway is reviewed in the context of UV-B perception mechanism, early signalling components and physiological responses, as well as highlighting differences between these pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular toolbox for studying diatom biology in Phaeodactylum tricornutum.
Magali Siaut,Marc Heijde,Manuela Mangogna,Anton Montsant,Sacha Coesel,Andrew E. Allen,Alessandro Manfredonia,Angela Falciatore,Chris Bowler,Chris Bowler +9 more
TL;DR: The identification of several reference genes that can be used as internal standards for gene expression studies by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) in P. tricornutum cells grown over a diel cycle are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
The UVR8 UV-B Photoreceptor: Perception, Signaling and Response
TL;DR: UVR8 UV-B signaling represents the further understanding of how plants are able to sense their light environment and adjust their growth accordingly and is reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Negative feedback regulation of UV-B–induced photomorphogenesis and stress acclimation in Arabidopsis
TL;DR: Two highly related WD40-repeat proteins, REPRESSOR of UV-B PHOTOMORPHOGENESIS 1 (RUP1) and RUP2, are described that interact directly with UVR8 as potent repressors ofUV-B signaling, consistent with an important regulatory role for RUP1 and Rup2.
